Roni–I love your intro….and it DOES make your video posts more, like you said “professional”…and all the podcasts I listen to, have a music intro, so now you’re right downtown!! And you always have something wonderful to share with us. I love your positivity….I’m like you in that way. I can’t see any point in being negative or pessimistic….that doesn’t help anyone or anything…..and being positive is Godly. Great job!

I think it’s quality of calories vs. quantity of calories. With regards to eating only 4 slices of pizza in a day, yes sure you can do that, but you’ll be far better off using those 2000 calories on fresh food and lean protein and you’ll be healthier in the long run. Right?

Thanks Annette… that is too sweet! :)
Glad you like it Bonnie!
Sarah – Totally agree… I was taking the “health” aspect out of it and taking the “sure it’s possible” approach but it’ll sure be hard!

I’m so glad you posted here about negative comments. Like you (used to be), I’m a college instructor, and I try to encourage healthy, positive communication in my classes. I tell my students that we can-and will-disagree, but if we respect each other we can talk about any subject in a civil manner. In most cases, when people make negative or downright nasty comments they are looking for a fight. I have noticed that some bloggers respond by entering into “wars” with these people. I support your opinion that the best way to respond is with an immediate, open, honest, CIVIL response. The fire goes out of the fight and most of the time the negative commentor backs off. You do a wonderful job keeping the conversation friendly and positive.

I love the new intro! It has great production value! I love that you call yourself “optimistically realistic.” I, too, would fall into that category. Yes, I have my Pollyanna moments and my Eeyore moments but for the most part, I am very optimistically realistic as well! :)

I love the new intro!
I also loved your answer to the “Calorie is a Calorie” question! So true. And I liked your pizza illustration – yes, if I still ate 1200 calories a day and they all came from pizza, yes I would still lose the same amount of weight. But I just couldn’t do that – I’d be starving all the time. So the real question is what type of foods can I eat that I won’t get sick of or be hungry all the time that will still fit in my calorie budget. It’s helped me a lot to think in those terms when I’m choosing what to eat and what foods to keep in my house.

Yay Roni, thanks for answering another one of my questions!! You give really great advice on this topic, I especially love your analogy that you wouldn’t someone talk smack to you in your house, so why allow it on the blog.
I also wanted to say that I TOTALLY relate to the first question. I seriously could have written it myself. That’s why I love your Q&A videos so much!
AND, I really liked the intro!

The intro threw me when I started the podcast … I had to look down to make sure I wasn’t playing a song instead of Ask Roni! But I like it. Reminds me of a news program.
I’m surprised no one has said anything about weight loss surgery yet. I know a lot of people have an opinion on it (because I’m one of them!)
As someone who, at 5′10″, weighed 306 pounds, I was overweight enough to qualify as obese … if not morbidly obese. But even at my highest weight, and desperately wanting to take off the pounds, I didn’t consider surgery.
I’d watch the stories on the news about Carnie Wilson’s big success, and see other surgery success stories — but a part of me always felt like that was cheating. I knew there was a diet plan out there, somewhere, that would work for me. (For me, it was Atkins — lost 110 pounds in 2 years … then gained 70 back in the next 2, when I met the Boyfriend and fell off the low-carb wagon).
Now I’m doing WW, and I know it’s a plan I can stick with for the rest of my life.

Holy cow! Irish is really getting big! My cats sleep all the time too. It is totally a cat thing. ;-)
Speaking of calories…I just dropped my subscription to WW’s and picked up the BodyBugg (calorie management system). It is an armband that I wear all the time and it tracks (accurately) how many calories I burn in a day. There is a website that goes along with the device that measures my calories in versus my calories out. It is crazy to know how many calories I burn just from sleeping and having a normal day without working out. For more info you can check out my blog where I have been talking about it for a couple days or the Bodybugg site. I highly recommend it. Some people will be immediately turned off by the price. But I look at is as an investment in my health.
