Woke up today still a under the weather but I could tell the bug was on it’s way out. It must have been some 24 hour stomach thing and unfortunately I passed it on to my poor niece. :( I hope she feels better soon.

By the afternoon I was feeling about 90% and decided I needed to get my butt moving. I had a 4 mile run scheduled but only did 2. I just wasn’t feeling it and my knee started bothering me again (getting nervous about that now.) At first I was disappointed with myself. Then I thought…

Hey, wait a minute here. You just ran 2 freakin’ miles. A year a go you thought you "couldn’t" run. Yesterday you spent more time in a bathroom then you thought humanly possible and you are beating yourself up because you ONLY ran 2 miles? Come on now. It’s better then not going at all! Plus you hit the weights afterwards with your trainer "for fun." Pat yourself on the back girl, come ON!

I didn’t really say that but typing it out helped me see my accomplishment instead of my "failure." See… the power of blogs (aka the journal.) So here’s my "successful" run from today! :)

As for the "stuffed," as I type this I feel totally over-full. I went a little nuts on the pizza. BUT, at least it was homemade pizza. I picked up one of those Whole Wheat Boboli Crusts for the Super Bowl, sliced up some fresh veggies and enjoyed my 4 slices. Three probably would have been enough but hey… It’s the super bowl, right? :)

So right now I’m enjoying the commercials and tweeting with my tweeps. ;~) Yes I’m one of those people that actually looks forward to the commercials during the game. What can I say? I’m a commercial girl. I enjoy the creativity it takes to get your point across or make someone laugh in 30 seconds. Speaking of, I’ll leave you my favorite commercial of all time. This one just cracks me up!

  2. Michele says:

First – about the commercial – LMAO!! Freakin’ hilarious!!

Second – I can’t believe you even attempted to run right after being so sick! Way to go for making it 2 miles!

  3. Amanda says:

After being sick, 2 miles is great!

As far as your knee…How old are your shoes? When I need new running shoes, the first thing I notice is that my knees hurt. Hope it gets better soon.

  4. Jill says:

Haha, I totally know that “only two miles” thing. I did four last weekend instead of six and it was like “Grrr, you suck, Jill!” but really, we got out there, thus we ROCK.

Thanks Amanda for the hint, my knee has been angry at me and I didn’t think of old shoes, but it could the it.

  5. WTG on getting out there and doing 2 miles! I was supposed to do a 5k this morning, but decided it would be best to skip it since I’ve been sick all week. I didn’t want to risk relapsing and then lose even more training time than I already have.

ROFL on the commercial! I remember when it first came out several years ago. I thought it was freakin’ hilarious, and it still is. :)

  6. Oh, forgot to add that I hope you have a BLAST at Blissdom! I lived in Nashville for many years and just love that city. I’m really bummed I’m not going to be there, but I already had a 3-day weekender cruise to Ensenada, Mexico with about 20 girlfriends booked for next weekend. I know you guys will have an amazing time. :)

    Roni-

It must be something going around on the East Coast. (ha ha) I am in Va Beach and it hit me last Sat. nite. I was so bummed, we were out to dinner with our good friends and I literally took 2 bites and could feel the stomach churning, like some hot, bubbling cauldron……gross! I too was in the bathroom all of Sat. nite and then by Sunday I was sort of back to normal. But how good of you to run Sunday? I agree with the positive self-talk when you blog, it totaly reinforces it in your head, it sort of “bumps” the bad talk out. Glad to hear your week is starting out virus-free. Have a good one!

Nice job on the run!! 9:30 pace is great!

  11. Brooke says:

That commercial was hillarious. I must have missed that one last night. My favorite by far was the Doritos one. That was a great job on the run. I can’t run 5 minutes before getting winded. I’m hoping to start working on that when the weather gets a little warmer.

  12. Shannon says:

I managed to miss pretty much all of the commercials so thank you for that one, I had a good laugh!

  13. Annette says:

Great game :)………way too many salty cheesy snacks here!

  14. Lucrecia says:

I think we women tend to beat ourselves up way more necessary – not sure how to stop that though. Maybe you have found the answer with blogging! Great job on the run!

  15. Krista S. says:

I can hardly type cuz I’m laughing so hard. Awesome commercial. My boys and I are cracking up!

    I’m glad you’re feeling better!

  16. Jenn says:

I didn’t read back to see how long your knee has been bothering you. If it’s more than 2 weeks and the buy new shoes thing didn’t work, try the cut your running in half thing for 2 weeks (and fill in with biking or swimming or something that doesn’t bug your knee). Then jump to 3/4th on the next week and back to where you are now on the week after. If that doesn’t work, probably see a sports med orthopedist. As someone who ignored an overuse injury for a REALLY long time (and had some guy from the Mayo Clinic poking my leg saying, “That’s so cool!”), I can recommend not repeating my mistake.

This is a really nice site. Just found it through at link at the Token Fat Girl blog.

My favorite commercial of all time was a Superbowl commercial from 96 or 97, Pepsi commercial with cows and a convenience store… I wish I could find it online because even explaining it to people, it still makes me giggle!
