One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Sulky Stuffed Sunday Ending Sensationally

14 Comments 1332 views

If you didn’t notice, I went missing since Friday afternoon. I needed to get away. I had this weekend planned for awhile and I was actually considering backing out because of all the house stuff that’s been going on. But then I realized… No.. I need to go. I need to get away. It is the only time I’ll be able to relax. If I’m home I’ll be fidgeting and worrying about the new house, and selling this one.

So I went and, boy, am I glad I did. I had a BLAST! Noting beats an escape from realty for a few days with your girlfriend. :) We saw a movie, played some pool, gambled a bit, had a few drinks, and danced all night at a club. You know all the things you are suppose to do in Atlantic CIty. :) I even got hit on by a 22 year old that couldn’t believe I was 32. LMAO That does wonders for your self esteem. ;~P

House for sale!! I got home this evening and was immediately struck by the reality of having a house on the market when I saw this. FREAKY!

*sigh* Like I said… back to reality. :)

So today wasn’t the most Sensational Sunday I’ve had this year. On the food front my day started with an entire small vegetable pizza and ended with about 600 calories worth of chocolate covered cranberries that I "bought for the toddler". Ummm yea.. the toddler. :)

I think my poor diet paired with returning to piles of work put me in a bit of a mood this afternoon. I was just down. But thankfully after dinner the husband helped me get moving again. Yes you read that correctly. HE motivated ME. LOL that never happens. :)

I didn’t get my run in today but I’ll make it up tomorrow. I needed a weekend off and that included working out too. This week my schedule is all out whack. I just plan on doing what I can when I can. The house is clean, Ryan’s lunch is made and I’m ready to start a crazy week!! Running, working out, finishing up the new blog, writing all my posts (and guest posts) all while trying to keep this house "show ready". What am I? CRAZY?!?

Why yes.. yes I am. :)

Since I missed the weekend quote this week I’ll leave you with one I found today.

The answer to old age is to keep one’s mind busy and to go on with one’s life as if it were interminable. I always admired Chekhov for building a new house when he was dying of tuberculosis. ~Leon Edel

I not only believe that about life but also weight loss. Once I started keeping busy and not worrying about being thin I actually ended up losing the weight. I guess you can say…

The answer to weight loss is to keep one’s mind busy and to go on with one’s life as if you were already thin.

As for me and my crazy obsession with “being busy”, you know what they say about idle hands. ;~P

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

My friend and I were in Atlantic City this weekend too! We stayed at Caesars, and it was fantastic!

    Hi Roni,

I’m glad you took some time off, it sounds like you needed it! I think you have the right attitude about doing what you can when you can, we’re all only human after all. One thing though, invest in a couple of plastic storage bins, one for each majorly used room into which you can sweep the clutter of everyday life should someone come to see the house. They can be shoved under the sofa, into a kitchen cupboard, under the bed etc. It worked for my friend when she was trying to keep her house ‘show ready’ last year.

Glad to have you back! When people look at your house you should just let them know you are a celebrity and they should feel honored to consider buying your house…lol…it might work. :-)

Oh Roni, I feel you on selling the house. We went through that when our little man was 18 months hold. Hard, but not impossible! Good Luck!!! :)

yes there is something to be said about staying busy :) Sounds like you had a very fun getaway…….so jealous ;)

I know exactly what you mean about seeing that sign on the lawn for the first time. It was both exciting and sad at the same time and yes a little scary too. I felt like my home was now just a house, and having strangers walking through it was just too weird! Good luck during this incredibly stressful time. Just keep telling yourself it is all going to be worth it!

AC is a great stress reliever!!! You’ll get through this crazy stuff; just take one HOUR at a time :)

I totally agree with you about the staying busy thing. It’s kind of like how whenever I’m at home doing nothing, I am constantly “hungry” and want to do tons of mindless snacking. But when I’m out and about with my friends, being active and having fun I don’t notice that I haven’t eaten every two hours. I think if you (mindfully) just try to let go and live life the best and most healthiest you can, everything will work out.

I have never sold/bought a house before but I can imagine how nerve-wrecking it is. Good luck with everything and remember to breathe!

    Hey Roni,

Sounds like you had a fun weekend. I have never been to Atlantic City, how does it compare to Vegas, or does it?

As far as your eating and your “mood” go, I say “eh..” You know what it happens to the best of us. Sometimes you just don’t feel like it, or you want to splurge and have something you normally would not. But, in the end what does that one time really matter, not a whole lot. When that “one time” becomes an everyday thing, then well you need to check yourself. But, if it truly is a “one time” than acknowledge it for it was and move on. Its done and over with now.

Thanks again for being “real”. Loved hearing about you and your girlfriend! Makes me think of a pickle I’m in…my bff’s wedding is on the same day (June 5 2010) as my hubby’s cousin’s…ugh! What’s a girl to do? Also happens to be hubs and my 16 wedding anniversary…

I’m getting to this blog post a little late, but it’s one that I needed today. I love your honesty about your day-to-day habits. It serves as a fantastic reminder to my ridiculous perfectionist self that it’s okay to crash and pick myself back up. Thank you, thank you, thank you :)
