Why not try to get some corporate sponsorship for your new kitchen such as appliances, kitchen gadgets, etc. Explain to the companies that you're building a new house and all about your blog and fellow readers. They might be interested in some free advertisement. (I do this type of thing for a living - begging for donations and free stuff.) Don't skimp on the kitchen/bathroom...get all the things you want to start because it costs more to change it out later. We also had hardwood and tile floors put in most of the house...so much better to keep clean, I can't wait to get the carpet out of the bedrooms. I am so excited for you...building your own home is great!! As far as the sale of your home...watch a few episodes of those designed to sell shows...they have great ideas that could really help you out. Good Luck...and make sure you keep us posted.
