Review: Banana Nut VitaTops
Vitalicious recently shipped me their latest creation, the Banana Nut VitaTops. They’ve always had a Banana Nut Flavor but in a sugar free version so I didn’t pay much attention to it. I find most sugar free products to have too much of an aftertaste.
However, the new "regular" Banana Nut….YUM! First, I was surprised how many walnuts were on top. They were small but spread out so you get a little bit in each bite. Love that!
Now, if you already think VitaTops are a bit dry these won’t change your mind. I think they are perfectly fine but I can see why others need a moister baked good. Me? well I like mine with a scoop of light ice cream. :) Even toasted straight from the freezer they’re YUMMY! You have to toast the crap out of them because they’re frozen but they get a great crust.
If you are interested in trying them they’re running a great special now, especially if you like the chocolate ones (like me). Get 12 Free Banana Nut VitaTops when you purchase 24 Deep Chocolate VitaTops pack! Add both to shopping cart & use the coupon code WRN13109 for the discount!
If Banana Nut’s not your cup of tea remember the RonisWeigh code works for 10% off all your favorites or mine! :)
Just curious.. what are your favorites? Or have you even tried them yet?

I've recently discovered the amazing combination of cheese and dried cherries. I know, it sounds weird, but seriously… good! The other day I smeared some Laughing Cow Light Swiss on Cucumber slices and then topped with a cherry. It was a fun, sweet twist on standard cheese and crackers. Well, cheese [...] -
If I was a good blogger this idea would have been published BEFORE the Super Bowl not during it. I made these today to have a little fun. Surprisingly, The Husband liked them even though he didn't eat more than one. Why? Because he's strange like [...] -
If you read my weight loss blog you know I'm battling a bit of back and neck pain right now. I'm starting to feel a little better but those first few days where rough. Being the head chef of the household, this meant we ordered in a couple of times. I'm [...] -
I'm LOVING Pinterest! I can just scroll all day long looking at food photo after food photo. I wish I had more time to peruse! (I'm RoniNoone there by the way?) The other day I pinned a Portabello Mushroom pizza and was immediately inspired. It's such a simple idea and so light. [...] -
The other day I found myself craving an Orange Julius. Are they as popular as I think they are? Growing up we had an Orange Julius at our local mall. It was always a treat for us at the end of a family shopping trip. Once I was old enough to be [...] -
So I'm a little breakfast nutty at the moment. Little Bean LOVES eggs and I find myself cooking them more and more. This morning I decided to go super light (after last nights chocolate overload) and it was totally satisfying for just over 100 calories! The trick to making [...] -
A few weeks ago I saw Chef Michael Simon make a raw kale salad on The Chew. He sliced beets up real thin and cut the kale into ribbons. Then made a vinaigrette out of red wine vinegar and olive oil. I was immediately intrigued. So far I've only [...] -
I've had this idea for a quick creamy chicken dish for a few days now. It was time to give it a shot. The whole family LOVED it. I'm not joking. The only complaint came from Little Guy who declared his hate of mushrooms yet again BUT he ate everything around them. Fine [...] -
I made this on a total whim yesterday as I had leftover avocado after feeding the baby and leftover Spaghetti squash cooked from the weekend. I roasted the squash to serve with my Chicken tips instead of potatoes and it was AMAZING! Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. So I'm sitting there staring [...] -
It's post holiday season. You know what that means? Leftover Crescent rolls to experiment with! Every year for Thanksgiving I buy a few canisters. It's the only time I do as I can't be trusted around them. Let's just say I'd beat you in the How-Many-Crescent-Rolls-Can-You-Eat-In-One-Sitting game and leave [...] -
Last week the kids and I tried parsnips for the first time and I've made them 3 times since. I wanted to figure out the best way to roast them. Yeah, that's it, the best way to roast them. You'll buy that right? Right? The truth is, I'm obsessed. I found myself [...] -
Yesterday just felt like a good day to stuff an acorn squash. I had one sitting on my counter for quite some time and it was just begging to be cooked. Since both husband and child don't like it I made a solo meal just for me and, well, it was DELICIOUS! [...] -
I bought a fennel bulb on a whim for the holidays not knowing quite what I would do with it. Of course I forgot about until yesterday when I was rummaging through the fridge trying to figure out what I wanted to make for breakfast. I pulled it out and stared [...] -
I probably should have warned you I was taking a holiday hiatus. I've been soaking up every moment of family time imaginable these last few days, leaving no time for anything else. Not even blogging! Shocking I know. ;) So I return not with a new recipe, per se, but to [...] -
Here's a quick idea for when you find yourself with a spaghetti squash but don't quite know what to do with it. Come on. Admit it. That's happened to you too. It's sure happened to me! I roasted this squash on Sunday... [...] -
I'm not sure if this will be a crowd pleaser, but I liked it and thought I'd share in hopes it inspires you to have some fun with kale. I loved the combination of sweet pear, earthy kale, salty bacon bits and creamy hummus. The only issue with the wrap was [...] -
I'm going on day 2 of counting Weight Watcher Points and I'm already inspired to come up with light, healthy meals for myself. It's like I needed the constraint of points to motivate me. Isn't that weird? Anyway, all morning I was brainstorming what to make for lunch. I wanted something flavorful [...] -
I have a friend who patiently cleaned, peeled and cubed a fresh pumpkin and then selflessly gave me some. Scratch that, a TON! I would have never even thought of doing something like that! But now that I have it in my fridge the ideas are flowing. First, I roasted some [...] -
CHRISTMAS COOKIES! YAY! Sorry. I'm so excited! Little Guy and I had tons of fun making and decorating cookies today. It may just be my favorite part of the holiday season. I loved it when I was a kid and now I get to do it with my own kids. [...] -
This may be my simplest idea yet, but it was so tasty and satisfying I had to share. Plus you guys know I'm a Laughing Cow Community Leader so I'm all about sharing fun ways to use their products. You guys may also know how I feel about pausing and making [...] -
I made this on Thursday. THURSDAY! I hate when I can't post something I've eaten within 24 hours. It just bugs me. Not sure why, it really doesn't matter when I post it, does it? Anyway, I did whip this up to cure a pizza craving and I couldn't be happier. [...] -
It's been awhile since I jazzed up a tilapia fillet. I've breaded them before, coated them in oats, flavored them like one of my favorite drinks and topped them with a fun salsa. It was time to bring nuts into the party. You are going to think I'm crazy but I've [...] -
Fun leftover turkey idea #2! Click here for leftover turkey idea #1. I had a little Gouda leftover from this years Harvest Salad and decided to put all the same flavors from the salad into a quesadilla. I just can't get enough of the smokey gouda/sweet craisin combo. It goes [...] -
It's the day after Thanksgiving and my refrigerator ROCKS! I have leftover turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, roasted Brussels Sprouts, a bunch of veggies and tons of miscellaneous fun stuff. I've already made stock from the bones (like this) and my first batch of soup, Classic Turkey Noodle. I hope to share [...] -
I'm so sorry I've been slacking in the Thanksgiving recipe department. I feel like a bad food blogger. Everyone else is posting festive ideas and here I've gone missing for a few days. Maybe it's because I'm not doing anything special for Turkey day. I finally got my holiday cooking [...]

mmm! love the deep chocolate, the multi-bran and the cornbread ones. i put a scoop of chili and some shredded cheese on the cornbread vitatop for a chili-cheesy-soul food dish! THANKS FOR THE COUPON CODE~am dying to try the new flavor.
I’m going to see if I can get these sent to Australia. Of course, I’ll have to try the chocolate ones.
I have not tried these yet. I’m not ready to have something like that in the house right now. Might polish them off til their down. Something to keep in mind for the future though. I love these reviews that you do!
Oops that should say “done”, “polish them of til there done” Sheesh!
They don’t have them in England…. it’s so unfair :(:(:(
Hi roni,
I actually LOVE the smart one’s breakfast sandwhiches. A coupon would be great. The husband and I both eat them everyday. I like them b/c they are fast and easy and they are REALLY Good. Especially the Quesadia’s!
Thank You!
Karen
I love Vitatops. I just placed an order this morning because they have a free shipping special on orders over $55 that expires today. I bring one to work for breakfast everyday. The fact that they are prepackaged and not cheap keeps me from over indulging.
We’ve reviewed quite a few of them over at Iateapie.net, but my fave is the Golden corn – doesn’t sound as sexy as the other flavors, but it’s oh so good :-)
I didn’t like any of the non-chocolate I tried. And I utterly hated the low-carb ones. horrible! Banana Nut was the flavor I’d enter as my answer to “which flavor would you like to see added” , so I really should try it, huh?
I do find they all have a funny aftertaste. I don’t know if it’s the soy or what, but I wouldn’t say any of the Vitamuffins taste GREAT. No, I’d say teh chocolate ones tastes tolerable, and I think of them as a diet aid (when I buy them, which I haven’t in a while), rather than a real treat. They have enough fiber and sweetness to often satisfy that “cakey craving.” If they could get rid of that aftertaste, i wouldn’t care about the dryness. I’ve given them to family members, and even the kids thought they were horrible. ah, well.

Vitatops are fabulous! My absolute fave is the deep chocolate. I just recently bought the bluebran and I like them for breakfast or a snack. I save the deep chocolate for desserts (spread with PB2 for icing) YUMMY!
Thanks for the banana nut review. I am looking forward to trying them!
That looks and sounds delicious!! I adore muffin tops, but have yet to try these…
I love the deep chocolate, the bluebran and the cornbread. My local Meijer has the deep chocolate and used to have the bluebran, but I haven’t found them for a long time. I ordered once, but I never have enough room in my freezer for a whole box, so I haven’t ordered since. But I really love them. I put the deep chocolate in a small bowl and place in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then I top it with 1 serving of BlueBunny fat free no sugar added vanilla ice cream. Yummy! And the bluebran ones, I toast in the toaster and they are actually crunchy when I eat them. I love that crunch and taste.
I have not tried any of the pre made ones but i made the brownie mix last nite and the are so good it was very moist!
Well, Roni…..I folded. This was just too good a deal to pass up…12 free Vitatops. So I ordered. And I also ordered the cranberry bran and the cornbread tops. *sigh* I couldn’t help myself.
Love vitatops. Favorite flavor is Triple Chocolate Chunk with a squirt of FF Rediwhip!
I love Vitatops. I can’t wait to try the new Banana Nut. I find them so filling, all for only 1 point.
I love the deep chocolate Vitatop but was unimpressed by others I have bought at the store or ordered. However, I LOVE banana nut so that sounds REALLY good to me!
Actually, you have me craving banana walnut oatmeal … tomorrow’s breakfast ;)
Dark chocolate: Love this! I take just enough powder for what I need and mix with some diet soda and bake for a warm, chocolately treat. I don’t really like any muffins that have been sitting out for a day or two. Plus, I don’t overindulge if I didn’t make a whole batch.
BlueBran: I just bought this for the first time and really liked it. I’m not a huge fan of bran muffins, but this was quite good with some additional blueberries and some sprinkles on top for the kids.
I ordered the Bananna Bran but have not had a chance to make it yet.
We’ve only tried the Roni’s Favs so far, so out of those our favorites are golden corn and pomegranate chocolate. Weirdly the pom/choc one tastes more chocolatey to me than even the triple chocolate! I’d like to give some of the other flavors a try, but when we have them in the house we have a challenge with limiting ourselves…
Hrm. I think Vita Tops/Vita Muffins are a product that you either love or hate. I bought some from the grocery store, can’t remember the flavor exactly (I want to say cranberry orange or something, gosh I don’t know) but wow, totally YUCK to me. Nobody in my house would eat them. I’m tempted to try the chocolate versions as everyone seems to rave about them, but after spending so much on the ones I had to throw out, I’m just not willing to risk it. I have to admit, every time you mention them, I sorta squinch up my face and go, “Ew…can’t believe she LIKES those.” Haha.
I tried the triple chocolate and well, I am not really a fan.
Awesome – thanks for the tip!
I just bought the RoniFaves pack and have enjoyed the ones I tried so far. Dying to get the ice cream to go with it. What a great dessert!!!!!
I like the peanut butter chocolate vitatops. To counter the dryness, I microwave mine for 35 secs from frozen. Obviously, each microwave is different!
Roni, thanks so much for the code. I’m excited to have a plan for the times I crave something sweet.
I just found your site this week and have found it so helpful and inspiring already!
Roni…..believe it or not….MINUTES after I placed my VitaTop order, I was laid off my job. Here I haven’t ordered VitaTops for over a year, and when I finally break down and order some,…..oh geeeez. What rotten luck, huh? So now I’m on the job hunt! I’ve been a little upset and distracted since Tuesday morning, and haven’t been on your site at all. I was starting to have withdrawals, though. But….I’ve got a LOT of research to do to find another job, so I don’t know how much I’ll be on here in the days to come.
Got my VitaTops today. Tried the chocolate and like them. I split the order with a girl I work with.
Bonnie, best wishes with your job hunt.
I love vitatops but don’t order very often because they are so expensive. I like their free shipping promos.
Just tried these! Not crazy about the banana nut, they are very dry. But so are the chocolate chip! The great thing about the chocolate is that you get a chip in just about every bite and if you’ve left it out to thaw, the chip makes a really nice, moist addition. I’m doing weight watchers to lose about 10 pounds and I really can’t complain — they’re only 1 point!!!
Initially I was purchasing the Vitatops (Deep Chocolate – YUMMY) from the grocery store. However, it was getting expensive munching on one every day so I went online and purchased a pack of mixes.
The Vitalicious chocolate brownie mix is GREAT. More moist than the Vitatops and oh so good when heated up and served with frozen yogurt or light ice cream. My baking tip here would be to use Reynold’s “Release” Foil – you won’t need ANY type of non-stick spray and I swear that nothing sticks to it.
If you are even slightly sensitive to sugar substitutes, STAY AWAY from the Sugar Free Banana Nut mix. I have no problem with diet sodas and sugar-free candy, but eating just ONE of the sugar free banana nut muffins had me suffering from stomach cramps and bloating ALL DAY. It was so bad that I asked for a refund….and that was in itself a painful process!!! I paid more for shipping the product back to them than they refunded me – so in other words, not a true refund.
With all that said, I love the Vitalicious brownies and will be ordering more mixes. It satisfies my cravings for dessert and is HEALTHY.
I tried the Deep Chocolate Vitatops after I had looked at the reviews on Amazon, and there were several that mentioned an unpleasant after-taste. I heated my Chocolate Vitatop in the microwave for 20 seconds per suggestions on Amazon reviews, added sliced strawberries, and whipped topping – delicious! Then came the really unpleasant after-taste – tried brushing my teeth and eating cherries to get rid of the yucky taste in my mouth. Read the ingredients and the only thing I can think of that would leave such a bad taste is the zinc – I have zinc throat lozenges that have a similar unpleasant taste. I will not be eating these again, but for those who like them and have a Costco nearby, that’s the cheapest place to get them.
