Hey Roni – I’ve also been crippled by perfection in the past. Check out the post on Gretchen Rubin’s Happiness Project Blog

    http://www.happiness-project.com/happiness_project/2009/01/your-happiness-project-dont-let-the-perfect-be-the-enemy-of-the-good.html

She has posted on “Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good”

It’s not directly related to weight loss/maintenance, but I really think the principle applies to us. It’s powerful stuff!

  2. Patty says:

Thanks for the answer Roni, now I know I’m not alone in my “mind/body disconnect” as you put it. Maybe one day it will finally click!

  3. s says:

lol. i liked the funny story. :)

  4. Alisha says:

I liked the story…too. It is sooo wild for me to look back at my progress pics…and I love seeing the change in yours too. Awesome reminders.

I just e-mailed you a food find and a video about making workout excuses that is a good motivation.

  5. Adriana says:

FYI, I love the beer pong poster behind you ;)~

  6. Krista S. says:

ROFLMAO….just watching you laugh about yourself made me laugh and every time you’d laugh harder, so would I. You are too funny, Roni.

  7. MaryBe says:

    You look so pretty!
I think the berries are pronounced “A-Sigh” but maybe we should just call them berries to be on the safe side!

  8. Sarah says:

Wonderful video! You have every right to be disheveled.
Some of the things you were saying on the video, I was just sitting here saying, “Yes, Exactly!” You took the words right out of my mouth. I too struggle with Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and I have for as long as I can remember. I’ve lost 25 lbs and I still can’t really tell a difference. I’m waiting for the brain to catch up!

  9. Christy says:

haha…your story was funny. I hate when I do stuff like that. In my line of work they always want us to refer to poeple over the phone as ‘sir or ma’am’ but I am worried I will get it wrong so I avoid it as much as possible.

I have asked a lady that ‘looked’ pregnant when she was due…only to find out she was just a bit heavy in the stomach area and not pregnant at all.

  10. Bonnie says:

I think it was funny……*smile*. I’ve had the same body/brain problem all along. I think now that I’m Lifetime, and because my legs and butt are really skinny, it’s easy to tell that I’m smaller. But I still have skin or flab or something in the stomach area, and on my back…sides…like above the bra flab, and so I still have some body image problems with that. I’m still wanting to lose some more, but I’m not letting it get to me when it takes a long time. My healthy weight range is 129-155 and I’m 53. I stopped at 155 for my WW goal and I weigh 152 right now. I’m taking it 5 pounds at a time and re-evaluating at each. I seriously doubt that I will go any lower than 140 though. I just feel like, at my age, I don’t want to lose too much, or I may get “gaunt” looking, and I don’t wanna do that.

  11. Maggie says:

I worked at a health restaurant that sold an acai smoothie. It is pronounced “ah-sigh-ee”. I’ve seen TV commercials where they say it wrong.

  12. roni says:

    Thanks! I knew I wasn’t right! :)

  13. Carla says:

This is way overdue but I just now watched this. I laughed so hard at your story, mainly because it’s SO something I would do. My foot is very comfortable in my mouth…it’s there a lot.

And I teared up right along with you because I can completely relate to those feelings. You can’t even imagine how many “before” pictures I have that have no after pictures to go with them.

Thanks for being so honest and sharing. :O)

  14. Courtney says:

My boyfriend gets so angry with me when I ask him to tell me whose bodies are semi comparable to mine. He just doesn’t understand that it’s hard for a lot of women to really tell what size they are.

I don’t know if you would get this show in the States, but a British show I’ve caught a few times on television called “How to Look Good Naked” focuses on [mostly] female body image. There is even a part of the show where they take the woman who is featured that day, have her in her underwear, and stand her in front of a line of women [also in their underwear] ranging in sizes [from bigger to smaller] and ask the woman to place herself where she thinks she fits in line. The women ALWAYS put themselves at least two steps up from where they should be [so they think that they're bigger than they actually are]. Like I said, I’ve only caught the show a few times, but I loved the idea behind it and the whole “feel comfortable in your own skin — no matter what size” mentality.

Thanks for the great [as usual!] video, Roni! Hope you had fun at Blissdom09!

  15. cleansing the colon is easy.. just eat tons of fiber rich food

  16. Great job on the video, it was pretty funny too! I must agree that some of these products are complete BS. But, some really do have benefits.
