Hi Roni,

First, I have to say I am like your husband in that I have no idea what the point is to Twitter, and it seems to be everywhere.

With regards to the diet soda, now that I think about it, I was a stickler for Diet Pepsi. The first reason I stopped drinking it was financial. I afford to buy them. The other thing, its made with aspartame and that is not good for me - literally bothers me physically. Something else occurred to me just now. Its been about 1.5 weeks since I had one, and I've found the water retention in my body is down. I haven't taken a water pill in almost a week, and because I am away from the aspartame, sodium and many other additives in foods, my joints don't ache so much. Water is my thing. Another suggestion to get away from soda is add one third orange juice and two thirds water to ice, or another juice you like, and gradually reduce the amount of juice over time until you get to just water. another thing is to drink water with ice. Sometimes the coldness of that helps it go down much better.

To the goal journal etc. YES YES YES! It definitely works, and that is why I made it Week Two of my Freedom Challenge, but I would get a sectioned note book and keep the food journal one section, weight and measurements in another and goals etc. in another. Reading goals out loud and writing them repeatedly helps keep them in the forefront of your mind.

I'm glad you pulled that last question, brough a tear to my own eye, but this is also one of the reasons I started to blog, although I have found my niche yet. For now I just hope others find support and help in what I share about my own journey. I too am a teacher and LOVE LOVE LOVE helping others where I can. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and thank you for being so real!

Roni-you and the husband are not alone! My hubby and I are the exact same way. I could not imagine having to fight over one PC. We have our own laptops in the living room so we can browse at random (or check facts from tv and bets we make with each other) and a standard office with a desktop. My hubby is the same way. He doesnt browse blogs and such but the sports forums he is all over. Its kind of a relief to know that other geek families are the same :)

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to do videos, I love not being productive at work for a few minutes and just relaxing.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that drinks water, Roni! Even my doctor shakes his head when I tell him that I drink four 16 oz. bottles of water each day. He says that drinking a lot of water is hard on your bladder. He says "what goes in must come out." I told him that I've always had a "natural thirst". . . been drinking water for years and years! I drink a glass of wine (or two) every once in a while. I drink hot decaf flavored teas, too. I don't feel deprived. I feel healthy, hydrated, and my skin feels smooth.

Yeah...my husband is a soda fan. I keep my sodas/caffiene down to 1 maybe two servings a day. Diet soda, tea or coffee...but regular soda is usually too sweet for me.

Also I have found that regular OJ is normally too sweet for me. I end up mixing it 1/2 and 1/2 with water to make it not so sweet.

Damn you Charlie...you made Roni cry. Don't worry...I <3 Charlie too...but Roni is super special! When she cries bloggers across the world cry! lol...

Hi Roni!

Great video again and happy and successful new year by the way!

About the diet soda addiction: my advice would be "keep it simple" - i.e. simple drinks like water, tea, 100% juice, even though juice is rather a kind of food than a drink - and read about the ingredients of diet sodas and their could-be-effects. They are so unhealthy if you just inhale them. For me, reading about the unhealthiness of ingredients mostly helps, I do not want to insert such things regularly into my body.

And find out about healthy alternatives like cold tea drinks (Roni has a great recipe!) or natural juice with water (25-30% juice and 75-70% water, especially apple juice with lemon is very popular over here in Germany :))

Lots of love!

A couple of years ago, I took vacation during the IL State Fair and I worked in the Greek food booth of the Ethnic Village (Opa!) Anyway, the Coke guys used to come in and we'd give them food when they were there to fix our soda tanks or hoses, or whatever....it seemed they were always breaking. Anyway, one day they got to telling us about Diet Coke. They said, regular Coke is at least made from coke syrup from the coca plant, but Diet Coke is made from........CHEMICALS! That's all it is....straight chemicals! Kinda grossed me out.

I drink water on the way to work (well, I used to, until I lost my job due to the economy last week), then coffee in the morning or when I got to work with my breakfast, then water all day, and sometimes I have hot green tea at night, then take a glass of water to bed so that if I wake up in the middle of the night, I can drink water then too.

We like your sappiness, Roni!

Diet Coke addiction is really tough to break! It took my 5 attempts and when I finally did it, I lost another 8 kilos. Something in aspartame triggers some bad stuff in the body - I finally quit soda by using Diet Kola Capsules (see dietkola.com) and it contains the caffeine, the kola, and whatever, but no aspartame, no phosophioric acid, no caramel, so my brain, teeth and bones are all better now! I do drink Costco soda water... the fizz is good for me! It sounds like you and others don't like the carbonation, but for me, it was all part of the experience. Good luck! Judit
