The eating still has NOT stopped! I’m serious. well…. it’s slowed down a bit. :~) I’ll admit it, I went little nuts on the "big" day. It wasn’t the turkey, or the potatoes (that were PERFECT by the way) it was the freakin’ Berger Cookies. I mentioned these before. There are made by the devil himself. One stupid cookie is like 3 points and I, well…. ummmm….. lost count. I don’t remember, I ate at least 5 through out the night.

Other then those, a few nonpareils, some wine, and ohhhh the cheese. The cheese cheese, cheese, cheese. One thing I can’t pass up is the CHEESE, CHEESE, CHEESE CHEESE! (Did I tell you we made a new family tradition of watching the Grinch on Thanksgiving night? I LOVE Dr. Seuss!) I did o-k. Ohhhh crap. Who am I kidding? I did horrible. I ate past my point of fullness, skipped over the veggie platter for the cheese and crackers and even went a bit nuts on the wine and Bailey’s Irish Cream.

H-o-w-e-v-e-r… in addition to cooking the entire meal myself for eight, I snuck in a 2 mile run Thanksgiving morning! That’s a first for me. It felt awesome! The turkey was in the oven, the potatoes were peeled and appetizers out. I told the family I needed 20 minutes, slipped on sneakers and hit the pavement. I have to admit, at first I wasn’t into it, I was fighting my brain the whole way but by the end of the first mile I was so happy I was out getting in some activity.

Here’s the run….

When I got back I went to synch the iPod and show my family how the Nike+ worked I was presented with this…

Roni ran 100 miles

Apparently I ran 100 miles this year!! Actually since June, because that’s when I bought the Nike+. Plus, I have ran quite a few times without it. So that’s REALLY cool! At least I think it is. :~)

I also went to the gym this morning to get some weight training in. So I guess you can say I’m on point with the exercise thing. I just need to ring in the eating again. MAN! it always seems to be one OR the otherm doesn’t it?

So I hope everyone’s Turkey Days went off without a hitch! I’ve been enjoying a lot of family time. Besides the meal, yesterday my mom and I took the kids for a walk after dinner. The adults had fun playing board games until the wee hours of the morning. Today we walked, oh, ummmm at least a mile shopping (a mom/daughter tradition) and tomorrow we are taking the toddler and my niece to see Bolt. THIS is what the holidays are about for me, family time. I just wish there wasn’t so much darn food involved! :~)

I have guest until Sunday so I’ll be a little distant until then, although I plan on posting when I can. Just remember Thanksgiving is over and no matter how much you ate, today is a new day and tomorrow is too! :~)

I started my day off saying “be focused”! I have fallen into the trap of an overeating free for all after a holiday. I haven’t figured it out, either, but I think you should feel so proud of yourself and all you have accomplished! You’re a busy mom and wife. You’re a RUNNER and you basically chose to live a healthy lifestyle. That is a lot to be proud of. We have to take these holidays one day at a time and realize that it isn’t the norm (although I would love for life to be a constant party!!!) Kudos to you for getting in your exercise! You are so inspiring!

By the way, I tried your Spaghetti Squash pancake recipe and it is awesome! It will be my go-to recipe for ss from now on! Thanks!

glad you had a good turkey day!

Your family traditions sound amazing, Roni….I’m glad you’re having fun. You’ll get back in the “food” grind, as soon as they leave….don’t worry. And good for you for getting in so much exercise…I haven’t gotten a BIT in, but plan to today. I did well on the food front though, part of that being that I have a cold, so food doesn’t taste that great……heck, for the very first time, I didn’t even eat all my popcorn snack last night.

Company in the house always makes it seem like things will not return to normal. Getting my 4 mile walk in and a 30 minute toning workout every morning. My problem was the PIE! I don’t like the potatoes or dressing so I concentrated on the salad and veggies but had too much pie! Trying hard to count today but I know it will be Monday before I feel like I am in control. I will keep telling myself that I will be in control!

I’m very familiar with Berger cookies—there’s no need to say more!
