Boy this weekend was a disaster on the food and exercise front. Disaster may be a too strong of a word but you know what I mean. I was really in a funk. My appetite was out of control and every time I went to workout there seemed to be some roadblock.

Saturday I thought the gym was open until 8 when actually it closed at 7 so I didn’t get to lift. I tried to run instead but I my heart wasn’t in it. I ran, maybe 20 minutes. I’m not sure, as I didn’t bring my Nike+ because, again, I thought I was going to lift.

Yesterday I was planning on my first ever 60 minute run before my relay in the Baltimore Marathon this weekend but it didn’t happen. My running partners backed out and it took all my motivation and energy to get out the door. Which I did, but when I got to the route I realized I forgot my iPod. *sigh* I was starting to feel like everything was stacking against me. That’s the funk talking. You know, the "world is against me attitude" the "why is it so hard for me" mentality. That funk can have a pretty good hold but I decided to get out and run anyway, or at least I tried. But again, my heart wasn’t in it. With no music and no NIke+ I could again, only run for about 20 minutes. I guess I found my music-less running limit. I’m not hard core yet, I can only last about 20 minutes without the distractions of my favorite tunes! :~)

Today I did better. I feel better. I made it to Boot Camp, had a great warm-up run keeping a 8:49 pace for .7 of a mile and worked my tail off in what the instructor called "House of Pain". It was basically random exercises from squats to dips for abut 30 minutes. Fun, right? :~)

So here’s the food journal today. I’m working on a version 2 of Tweet, Eat, Post where you can enter a date to generate your journals. It will helps fix the after midnight problem that some of use night owls face.

Oh! and Carrie discovered that you can actually post workouts and subtract points simply by adding a negative (-) sign in the parenthesis like so…

Food: Boot camp (-3)

Pretty cool, right!?! Anyway, here’s mine for the day, I’m off to bed…

Hey! Thanks so much for your sweet comment!

    Two things:
    1) I’m confused on the Food Network happenings — you’re making a video, so you’re still in the running, yes? Say you are! :)
    2) Spinach Ricotta Roll looks *awesome*. Can’t wait to try it!

    Hi Roni,

I am impressed with how your handled your “funk”. It would have been easy to bail on exercise both days but you went running anyway. 20 minutes is still much better than nothing! I didn’t realize that your marathon was happening this weekend, I am excited for you!

Well, I am glad to hear you are on your way out of “the funk”. I think I was faced with the funk last week. I wanted to quit and give up…munch on a bag of chips and call it a day. But I didn’t! I am still here.

So your big race is this weekend?

Roni – if the weather is cool enough (or you park in garage that stay coolish no matter what) leave your IPOD – in the car – always. You and your car stay together – you will never get to the gym without it. If you are running from home – presto – your car is home too. I also leave a couple extra sets of ALL the needed clothes (socks, underwear, outer wear, shoes, warmth) in zip lock 2 gallon bags in the trunk too. They stay nice and neat and clean and are ready in any type of emergency.

PS – my inhaler lives in the car too – my car is where ever I am.

I am in a dinner funk. When I fix dinner it doesn’t appeal to me and then my husband eats dinner while I search the kitchen for something that would seem better and end up eating portions of several different things and never feeling like I had a meal. Last night I said I was going to fix his dinner and then have a bowl of cereal or protein shake and say that was my dinner. Of course then I would never get any vegetables because that is what I do for lunch! I read cookbooks for hours and still nothing seems appetizing. Any help?

Amanda – Well, I just didn’t get a call back from th casting call. That’s all. I guess you can say I’m “in the running” until the end of the month. That’s when they close the applications.

  8. roni says:

Christy – It is! I feel TOTALLY unprepared! LOL

  9. roni says:

    Vickie – Great idea!

Sandy – maybe think outside the box?? Make some breakfast f0ods for dinner, a fritata or pancakes?

I know exactly what you mean about the funk talking…that is how my weekend was and unfortunately I didn’t get my workouts in…and it started again yesterday, when I just didn’t feel like I had time…so I made a challenge with myself that I need to get my workout in sometime from the moment I get home (approx 5:30) to 8pm…so I have to start by 8pm at the latest…I barely made it yesterday by starting at about 5 til 8, but I made it and I feel much better…and even though today is going to be crazy full of stuff again, I know I will get it in and I am motivated to do so! Plus, only like 12 weeks left of the year so I need to get my butt in gear!
