Chicago here I Come!
October 29, 2008

A few weeks ago I hinted that I may be traveling to Chicago. Well, it’s true! Arrangements are made, itinerary set and I’ll be packing my bags next Friday!
Here’s the deal…
Nov 7-9 I will be joining some of the most amazing health, wellness and fit bloggers from around the blogosphere. Seriously I’m not kidding, look at this lineup!!!
- Carla of MizFit Online
- Jennette of PastaQueen
- Tanya of I Ate Pie
- Lisa of Workout Mommy
- Monique of Big Fat Deal
- Leslie of Weighting Game (Leslie is TBD but hopefully yes :-)
- Jason of Twit2Fit
- Anne Marie of This Mama Cooks
- Amy of Super Healthy Kids
- Jenna of Eat Live Run
- Kath of Kath Eats Real Food
- Lyn of Escape from Obesity
- Alanna of A Veggie Venture
- Anne of Elastic Waist
- Steph of Back In Skinny Jeans
I’m so honored to have been invited along with these awesome women (and 1 man :~P)!
Quaker invited us to talk about a few things, including their new LivingProof Campaign. I was excited as I’m a fan of Quaker and have shared some of their products as FoodFinds for quite some time. Plus, who doesn’t like oatmeal?
So, needless to say, I’m ecstatic! I’m going to get to meet other awesome bloggers, spend a weekend in a new city (have I told you how much I love cities and cityscapes?), and (most importantly) I get a BREAK. Nothing beats a weekend away. Especially a weekend without the husband and the toddler. That sounds so mean, but you other moms know EXACTLY what I’m talking about. ;~)
Ok, here comes the BEST part! While we are there, most (if not all) of us bloggers wanted to do a meet and greet with our readers. The details aren’t set in stone yet. We wanted gauge reader interest first to get a lose head count and help determine a place.
The group is thinking of either a Sunday brunch or a Saturday night (around 10pm-ish) bar thing. Or, my idea… BOTH why not? I’ll be FREE! ;~P
So please let me know if you want and are able to come out hang with us in Chicago. EIther leave a comment or twitter me. If you live in Chicago, and have any ideas for great meetup places, please feel free to share!
Can’t wait to meet some of you!

I left a comment on Jenna’s blog but I would love to meet up. I’m out in the burbs so it’s about an hour drive for me. I would prefer brunch on Sunday. This would be a lot of fun to meet all of you.

Way cool! Maybe the Quaker tour will make a stop in the DC Metro area. I’ve got family and clients in the Chicago area, I always love going to the Navy Pier. Might be a tad chilly this time of year, though.

Ohmygosh! I’d love to come up to Chicago, Roni……I live in central Illinois, near Springfield, so it’s just about 3.5 – 4 hours drive there. I think I’ve already agreed to babysit grandies on Saturday the 8th, but I’m sure I could get out of it. I’d have to stay all night Saturday night in a hotel. Where will you be staying? Oh man….I’d love for this to work out…..not sure it will, but I would sure love it! Need more details!

Chicago is a great city — very walkable.
If you ever have a blogger convention in NYC and do a meet up there I’d definitley attend!
I *totally* get what you mean about taking a break from the fam! ;-)
You earned it!

The good news is, both my sisters are still in the vicinity!

Roni, I am seriously thinking of asking my husband for an indulgence and letting me drive up to Chicago for this. And it would have to be drinks AND brunch if I’m driving 6 hours to meet you guys! Are you staying downtown? Would you mind emailing the hotel name so I can see if they have any rooms available?

Ah ha, I was wondering when the Great Quaker Convention was taking place (MizFit mentioned it a while back). If I was closer, I would totally be down for a meet and greet, but unfortunately, it’s a little out of the budget to hop on a plane. But have fun, and can’t wait to hear about it!!
P.S. Chicago is a great city. I was there right after 9/11 and saw a ton of cool stuff.

Roni, I follow your blogs/sites and Back in Skinny Jeans. I’m a little less than 2 hours from Chi town and would love to come but am afraid I have WAY too much homework.
I hope you have a big turnout. If you like city life, you’ll love Chicago!

I’d love to meet up with you guys in Chicago! Either time should work for me, but probably Saturday evening better. I’m also in the western blogs and would prefer some place NOT downtown as it is crazy traffic to get down there on the weekends.
