Weekend Quote – What you feel is…

12 Comments 1355 views

When this song came out in 1998 I was in college. After 4 years of undergraduate studies I was the heaviest I’ve been and really hating the body I was in. The body I put myself in.

Even then, when I’d hear this song one particularly line always stuck with me. After hearing the song yesterday I knew I had to use it as this weekends quote.

What you feel is what you are And what you are is beautiful

How powerful is that? It really is about how we feel, isn’t it? That’s why I asked if you could “let it go” this week. Once you feel beautiful, once you overcome the negative self talk you can truly move on and start to stop the cycle.

It’s not going to happen overnight. It will take time and, unfortunately weight loss is not a “cure” even though we think it is. I found this great article on stopping body hatred. I really believe, for some of us, this is the problem we need to solve before we can change our eating habits.

So… Remember, what you feel is what you are and what you are is BEAUTIFUL! :~)

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

I couldn’t agree more. So many people I know think that everything is going to “start” once they get to that magic number on the scale. Life is about enjoying every day and being thankful for what you have in the moment.

    Have a great weekend Roni!

p.s. ever since I saw spaghetti squash on your website, I buy one every week – so good!

    Hi Roni,
Love your sight!!! I discovered it about a month ago and check this one and greenlites every day!!! I love the weekend Quote!! I’ve been a fan of the Goo Goo dolls for many years and that quote is so true and powerful. Now I’ve just got to learn to follow it.

Love that song! Roni I just discovered your site in the last month and I have to say, you are truely an inspiration! I want to lose about 40 lbs and I got about half way there a few years ago and gained it all back! I am finally getting inspired again, and really need to hear positive inspiration from people like you!!

    Thanks for this terrific site!!

I knew there was a reason I loved this song!

Great quote too…and so true! Even though I just had a baby (he’s 4 months old now), I’ve been having so many of those moments where I hate the way I look. It’s so hard! But I have to tell myself–you just had a baby, you will get back there, it will take time…but you are also that little person’s sole source of nutrition right now–and yes I have this conversation in my head a LOT! But this quote is so true…and such perfect timing. Thank you Roni! :)

Wow – Imagine my surprise to come here today and see a video from my favorite band! What a great quote to use, Roni! Great song – I’ve listened to it so many times and I love that line too!

Just as a side note – I’ve seen the Goo Goo Dolls in concert about a dozen times and met them twice – I guess you could say I am a bit obsessed! :~) Now you know why I was so excited to see the video here!!

You are definitely right on this topic but it is so hard to put it into practice. I think I in some way I glossed over your ‘can you let it go’ post because I guess right now I can’t and I didn’t want to face up to that. I will reread it now though slowly and with more thought. I so need to start working on this or change just won’t happen for me.

Wow what a reality check. I know that I often catch myself thinking that once I lose this weight I’ll feel free…like I can really start living life….like that will be the time when I come to really love myself. But I realize that it’s so much deeper than that. Powerful it is reading “What you feel is what you are And what you are is Beautiful” for some reason brought tears to my eyes because I’ve spent so many years of my life hating the person that I am because of my weight that I’ve only ever once truely felt beautiful. Your “Let It Go” post hit home in so many ways. I know that once I start working on the stuff inside it will make it a little easier to see changes on the outside.
