Wacky Wednesday Workout Day
Call me crazy. Go ahead, but man I feel great! Two boot camps, a weight training session and I climbed the wall, twice (once alone and then again after the toddler asked if he could watch.)
The real wacky part of this… I LOVED every minute of it! I’m really starting to subscribe to a "body in motion tends to stay in motion" mind set. The more I move the more I want to move! It actually kind of makes sense. When I was at rest I tended to stay a rest, now didn’t I?
Anyway, now I need SLEEP!

What's Cooking in my kitchen?

I've recently discovered the amazing combination of cheese and dried cherries. I know, it sounds weird, but seriously… good! The other day I smeared some Laughing Cow Light Swiss on Cucumber slices and then topped with a cherry. It was a fun, sweet twist on standard cheese and crackers. Well, cheese [...] -
If I was a good blogger this idea would have been published BEFORE the Super Bowl not during it. I made these today to have a little fun. Surprisingly, The Husband liked them even though he didn't eat more than one. Why? Because he's strange like [...] -
If you read my weight loss blog you know I'm battling a bit of back and neck pain right now. I'm starting to feel a little better but those first few days where rough. Being the head chef of the household, this meant we ordered in a couple of times. I'm [...] -
I'm LOVING Pinterest! I can just scroll all day long looking at food photo after food photo. I wish I had more time to peruse! (I'm RoniNoone there by the way?) The other day I pinned a Portabello Mushroom pizza and was immediately inspired. It's such a simple idea and so light. [...] -
The other day I found myself craving an Orange Julius. Are they as popular as I think they are? Growing up we had an Orange Julius at our local mall. It was always a treat for us at the end of a family shopping trip. Once I was old enough to be [...] -
So I'm a little breakfast nutty at the moment. Little Bean LOVES eggs and I find myself cooking them more and more. This morning I decided to go super light (after last nights chocolate overload) and it was totally satisfying for just over 100 calories! The trick to making [...] -
A few weeks ago I saw Chef Michael Simon make a raw kale salad on The Chew. He sliced beets up real thin and cut the kale into ribbons. Then made a vinaigrette out of red wine vinegar and olive oil. I was immediately intrigued. So far I've only [...] -
I've had this idea for a quick creamy chicken dish for a few days now. It was time to give it a shot. The whole family LOVED it. I'm not joking. The only complaint came from Little Guy who declared his hate of mushrooms yet again BUT he ate everything around them. Fine [...] -
I made this on a total whim yesterday as I had leftover avocado after feeding the baby and leftover Spaghetti squash cooked from the weekend. I roasted the squash to serve with my Chicken tips instead of potatoes and it was AMAZING! Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. So I'm sitting there staring [...] -
It's post holiday season. You know what that means? Leftover Crescent rolls to experiment with! Every year for Thanksgiving I buy a few canisters. It's the only time I do as I can't be trusted around them. Let's just say I'd beat you in the How-Many-Crescent-Rolls-Can-You-Eat-In-One-Sitting game and leave [...] -
Last week the kids and I tried parsnips for the first time and I've made them 3 times since. I wanted to figure out the best way to roast them. Yeah, that's it, the best way to roast them. You'll buy that right? Right? The truth is, I'm obsessed. I found myself [...] -
Yesterday just felt like a good day to stuff an acorn squash. I had one sitting on my counter for quite some time and it was just begging to be cooked. Since both husband and child don't like it I made a solo meal just for me and, well, it was DELICIOUS! [...] -
I bought a fennel bulb on a whim for the holidays not knowing quite what I would do with it. Of course I forgot about until yesterday when I was rummaging through the fridge trying to figure out what I wanted to make for breakfast. I pulled it out and stared [...] -
I probably should have warned you I was taking a holiday hiatus. I've been soaking up every moment of family time imaginable these last few days, leaving no time for anything else. Not even blogging! Shocking I know. ;) So I return not with a new recipe, per se, but to [...] -
Here's a quick idea for when you find yourself with a spaghetti squash but don't quite know what to do with it. Come on. Admit it. That's happened to you too. It's sure happened to me! I roasted this squash on Sunday... [...] -
I'm not sure if this will be a crowd pleaser, but I liked it and thought I'd share in hopes it inspires you to have some fun with kale. I loved the combination of sweet pear, earthy kale, salty bacon bits and creamy hummus. The only issue with the wrap was [...] -
I'm going on day 2 of counting Weight Watcher Points and I'm already inspired to come up with light, healthy meals for myself. It's like I needed the constraint of points to motivate me. Isn't that weird? Anyway, all morning I was brainstorming what to make for lunch. I wanted something flavorful [...] -
I have a friend who patiently cleaned, peeled and cubed a fresh pumpkin and then selflessly gave me some. Scratch that, a TON! I would have never even thought of doing something like that! But now that I have it in my fridge the ideas are flowing. First, I roasted some [...] -
CHRISTMAS COOKIES! YAY! Sorry. I'm so excited! Little Guy and I had tons of fun making and decorating cookies today. It may just be my favorite part of the holiday season. I loved it when I was a kid and now I get to do it with my own kids. [...] -
This may be my simplest idea yet, but it was so tasty and satisfying I had to share. Plus you guys know I'm a Laughing Cow Community Leader so I'm all about sharing fun ways to use their products. You guys may also know how I feel about pausing and making [...] -
I made this on Thursday. THURSDAY! I hate when I can't post something I've eaten within 24 hours. It just bugs me. Not sure why, it really doesn't matter when I post it, does it? Anyway, I did whip this up to cure a pizza craving and I couldn't be happier. [...] -
It's been awhile since I jazzed up a tilapia fillet. I've breaded them before, coated them in oats, flavored them like one of my favorite drinks and topped them with a fun salsa. It was time to bring nuts into the party. You are going to think I'm crazy but I've [...] -
Fun leftover turkey idea #2! Click here for leftover turkey idea #1. I had a little Gouda leftover from this years Harvest Salad and decided to put all the same flavors from the salad into a quesadilla. I just can't get enough of the smokey gouda/sweet craisin combo. It goes [...] -
It's the day after Thanksgiving and my refrigerator ROCKS! I have leftover turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, roasted Brussels Sprouts, a bunch of veggies and tons of miscellaneous fun stuff. I've already made stock from the bones (like this) and my first batch of soup, Classic Turkey Noodle. I hope to share [...] -
I'm so sorry I've been slacking in the Thanksgiving recipe department. I feel like a bad food blogger. Everyone else is posting festive ideas and here I've gone missing for a few days. Maybe it's because I'm not doing anything special for Turkey day. I finally got my holiday cooking [...]

i totally agree! i THINK it kind of relates to the human body and mind not liking change. when it rests, it feels easy and good to keep resting. when moving, its easier to keep moving. oh i think thats why they say that its easier to run a mile (or however long) when you keep at the same pace, instead of stopping to walk and then running again. and also i think that thats why sleep feels SO good and it can be hard to wake up for many people, because you’re in this same state (sleep) for a long period of time and then you have to get up (which is change). sorry! totally just rambling nonsense here lol.

Im with ya on the in motion and staying in motion.
now to shift that mindset to a few other facets of my MizFitWorld :)
Check out MizFits last blog post..It’s BURGER TIME up in herre.
Roni, thanks for the comment on my post. I just love checking out your recipes. I have a favorite zuchini bread recipe, and I am going to make yours and do a taste comparison! I’ll let you know the results. And I really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for all your hard work.

Roni,
This might be a silly question but do you just eat the SSPeas cold or what do you do with them. Do you buy them frozen or in one of those baggies in the produce section. Thanks!
~Katie
Katie – SO not a stupid question. This is one of those things that I’ve been thinking about putting on GreenLiteBites but it almost seems to simple so I wasn’t sure.
I do buy the bags of peas in the produce section. I then wash and warm in a non-stick skillet with a bit of olive oil PAM and salt. It takes all of 5 minutes and it’s one of my favorite sides! Maybe I’ll do a quick video on how I make them on GLB.
I understand what you’re saying about staying in motion. The past week I just felt so unmotivated to exercise and I didn’t other than walks with my 21 month old. He likes to push his own stroller so what should be a 10 minute walk turns in a 30 minute stroll. Last night I got off my bum and went for a run. I am set to do a 5K in October. So I ran 3.1 miles and I felt amazing after it. I was so energized by the run that I went to the gym this morning and ran the 5K program on the treadmill. However, all it takes for me is to miss one day of exercise and it often becomes difficult to get back into the groove. Does that happen to anyone else?
I agree with you Roni. I’ve really upped my exercise routine and am trying to do different things. I even did sprints up a hill yesterday!!
Have a great day!

Aimee, it happens to me, too. I’m doing the Couch to 5K, and I’m happy to have the set schedule for it. It becomes part of my week that I can’t skip. Right now, I’m doing that three days a week. As I progress, I’m starting to feel like I want to do it more and more, which is not usually my style, so things are changing.

This sorta fits with your post and it reminds me of the Y thing you are doing…..remember the President’s Fitness Tests? ;)

You are amazing! are you sore this morning? I am so envious! I wish that my gym had a bootcamp class. I found that I need to workout about everyday. If I don’t I get irritable I think because it is my outlet to get rid of frustration and all the other icky emotions. Does anyone else do this?
So to help with my sanity on days I don’t get to go I do workouts on exercise tv ;)
Okay, what is the wall that you always talk about climbing? I have also wondered.
You go girl!!! Working out out that much is awesome…something you probably never thought would happen when you started this journey…I’m so proud of you…
Do you sleep? I think that is the better question…you have so much going on it seems…wife, mother, greenlite bites, blog to lose, roni’s weigh..which isn’t even all of it…your amazing…keep up the great work!!!
Tricia – There is a rock wall at the gym. I’ve been meaning to take a picture of it, maybe I wil… tonight! :~)
Jennie – A little sore, but not too bad. I agree with you, I need the workouts now for my well being. :~)
crista – I’m getting better at the sleep thing! LOL But I have to admit, I RARELY have a waisted moment during the day!
question about the commentluv box….when I checked it..it linked me to the last blog that I left a comment on..am I doing something wrong?? let me know
Check out cristas last blog post..Caitlin
crista – Hmmmm I think it’s because of the BlogToLose feed. What it’s doing is looking at your BlogToLose and finding the feed. The problem is the feed it finds is probably the master feed that has all activity. I’ll look into it for you. Sorry!
It linked me to the same blog, too … but it’s not the last one I commented on.
Check out Arlenes last blog post..Caitlin
Nope I’m the same way. I love my 2 hour work out days so much! I could easily go longer but life won’t allow it :0(
Thanks for answering my question on the rock wall. Please do take a picture of it for us, if you think about it. I am curious what it looks like.
that’s how I feel lately. If I had more time, I’d probably work out 3 times a day ;) I try to add little things into my day and by the end of the day, I have moved a lot. I had a meeting at my daughter’s school yesterday. Instead of driving, I walked. It’s about a mile each way. I made it there in 15 min and felt so energized at the meeting :)

I wish I belonged to a fitness club that has a wall to climb. That is something that I truly would love to do. But I belong to Curves, and of course they do not have anything like that. But Curves is where I also get my 2 nights a week pilates class, and I LOVE that class. If it ever stopped, I will quit Curves and find someplace else to work out…..hopefully a place that has a wall.
