Tweet, Eat, & Post!

Date September 30, 2008

I did it! I finished my twitter food journal generator! Here’s the deal, use twitter to track what you eat through out the day then come here and, enter your twitter name and generate a table for your blog. How cool is that?!? Yes, yes, I know, I’m a genius! ;~)

In all seriousness, this idea smacked me across the face when journaling my food yesterday. I realized using twitter was much easier then emailing myself and then copy and pasting to the blog.

If you don’t twitter, have no fear! It’s as easy as pie. Sign up here. Once you do simply type a message and click update. That’s it!

Still twitter-phobic? My old table generator is still available!

So without any further ado, I present my food journal generated from the new Tweet, Eat, Post generator. Read more about it and how it works on the Tweet, Eat, Post! page.

Food Units
Cereal and banana with the toddler 4

kefir bar 5
just about to have pizza made on lavash bread! 6
tilapia with experimental breading, peas and rice 8

Total: 30

  1. Ohh you should do another one for exercise.
    Is that possible?

  2. Hey there. I have a tilapia recipe on my site that is soper easy. It is tilapia and potatoes in an aluminum foil packet. We had them for dinner last night. My husband and I really like them…and he does not realize how healthy it is, so I really like that. :-)

Will you still keep your regular food journal generator? I am not sure if I can use Tweeter with my Wordpress site…I don’t know much about Tweeting…lol

  3. Genius indeed! Where on earth do you get the time & energy? You’re a modern superwoman. I agree with sraikh… one for exercise would be fab too!

Thanks so much for all your hard work.

  5. sraikh – I can! What I’m trying to figure out is how to combine the two! But I could do a separate one pretty easily.

  6. Christy – No plans on pulling the old generator. Actually what I’m going to do is create a blog tools section where all these will be accessible.

  7. You made it so quickly, too. I use the WW tracker, so this would be doubling my efforts, but it’s a great idea for anyone out there who’s tired of writing it all down on paper, as I was. It makes a HUGE difference to be able to track like this.

  8. OMG, Roni, you’re a genious! I put the generated food code in my Blogger, Settings, Formatting, Post Template space so it would show with each day’s post. This will hold me more accountable and make me post regularly too! Love your blogs!!!

  9. Question, Roni, does the Twitter table update itself during the course of the day? Or do I paste the code at the “end” of the day.

I just joined Twitter, so I’m a bit ignorant about this.

  10. I’m VERY ignorant about Twitter. I’ve been reading your Tweets since they’ve been on your page, and I signed up 18 days ago, but I just tried using it last night when you gave us the test food journal…..and I figured out how to tweet my food….but what I can’t figure out is how to send a tweet TO someone. I’m following you, Roni…but you’re the only person I know who tweets.

  11. HOLY COW! Amazing!! Thank you!!

  12. Nana – Yes it will updates after you update. When I have time I’m thinking of a Wordpress plugin that will update in real time on your own blog but for now this is just a snap shot of what you eaten so far. So stop by at the end of the day and grab your table!

  13. I just had to add that I can’t go grocery shopping anymore without seeing something from your site, whether it’s from a recipe or a food you were reviewing. LOL I saw a carton of Kefir today (which I wouldn’t have even noticed there before), and almost got some, but didn’t get up the nerve to yet. I bet it would be good to make smoothies with. You’ve opened up a whole new world of foods to us! :) (I won’t even go into the turkey pepperoni addiction you started in this house! I’m sure Hormel thanks you.)

  14. Bonnie – everyone starts somewhere! :~) You don’t actually send someone tweets they subscribe or follow you and then get them. Shoot me your username and I will “follow” you to show you how it works. Does that make sense?

  15. Shannon – I know, right! They should start paying me! LOL

  16. Such a cool idea! I love making things like that, but the problem with me is the follow-through.

  17. I just wanted to comment and say how cool I think this is– I really think you’re going to help a lot of people track. That said, I am not sure I’m ready to share all my food with those who follow me on Twitter right now, but still … nice work! You are now one of my script-writing heros.

  18. What a fantastic idea! I signed up for Twitter just to use the new food table generator. I think I’m going to enable the phone option so can can text myself when I’m out and about.

  19. OK. I know you’re fast asleep and won’t answer this tonight, but I had some trouble with the chart generator. I entered food throughout the day, and when I went to do my chart, only the last two items came up.

I was wondering if it has something to do with my trying to do the chart after midnight EST …

  20. Arlene – That’s EXACTLY the reason. I haven’t figured out how to overcome the past midnight issue. Let me stew on it a bit!

  21. I have been trying to figure out how to send a Twitter from my phone. I must have missed something in the instructions and now I can’t seem to figure it out! Darn!!!!
I am following you. I can see my twitter on my computer, but I’m not sure whare to send my text from phone and how to gt your table. Sorry for the ignorance. Is there a simple answer, for the non techy person. :-)

  22. Lori – I never sent a tweet from my phone (I have a crappy one!) Not sure if you seen this or if it will help… http://help.twitter.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=132

As for getting to the table, here’s the link… http://ronisweigh.com/ronis-resources/tweet-eat-post

hope that helps! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

  23. Okay not sure what I am doing wrong…when I enter my twitter name and hit submit a new page comes up but it says “Twitter Feed Not Found”

    Can you help?
