Some advice regarding impatience during weight loss. Take time to recognize your milestones along the way and reward yourself (without food). Whether it's losing a certain number of pounds, or when you fit into a smaller size, or even when your measurements go down by a certain amount. Congratulate yourself for the "little" accomplishments (this can also include drinking enough water every day, or exercising "X" number of days a week- pat yourself on the back!!).

If you look at the big picture, it's easy to get impatient while you're trying to reach that (seemingly faraway) goal. But if you break it into smaller chunks, and celebrate successes along the way, the journey is much less of a drudgery.

I've been having a hard time since returning to school, and your videos really helped me out tonight. I'm getting back on track this week and tried to make dinner and it didnt work out as well as I wanted and all I wanted to do was order chinese food. But I did some laundry and folded while listening to your videos. I know that some of the questions are hard (I tear up during a bunch of them) but by answering them, you always make me think and help me out during a difficult time :)

Thanks Roni!

My advice to the gal asking about impatience is to stay busy! Sounds silly, but if I pack my day with activities (even if it's a nap, LOL!) I feel like time flies. That's a little part of why I go to the gym 5 days a week--so I'm not bored and impatient.

But I totally know what the gal meant--i can't wait to reach goal either.

Awesome timing on this one Roni. I have had a major issue with snack attacks for the last two weeks. I eat my dinner, feel satisfied and get the "I wants". Today I am taking the bull by the horn and not giving in to the cravings unless I am hungry.

Hi Roni,

Another book/program you may be interested in if you are exploring emotional eating is Shrink Yourself (www.shrinkyourself.com). It's helping me understand why I reach for food to make myself feel better when experiencing a whole range of negative emotions such as anger, loneliness, sadness etc.

Roni, your answer to the first question had me in tears. I'm having a similar situation with my two closest friends, but it's not about weight loss. Thanks for answering the question. I hope I can "take the high ground" and get back into their lives so they can once again be a part of mine. Thank you!

I was so glad to hear you answer the emotional eating question, it seems to be a problem so many of us have, but you're an example that it's not impossible to learn to deal with that, so that it does not affect one's health or weight.
