Weekend Quote – What do you want?

Date August 9, 2008

People don’t succeed because the give up what they want the most for what they want right now.

My Boot camp instructor says this all the time and I think it’s genius! Now, why I didn’t remember it BEFORE I devoured the extra cheesy fried eggplant parmesan with an extra side of bread for dinner tonight, I’ll never know!

  1. omg.. I CLEARLY need to remember this quote when I’m making food choices.

  2. I hope I remember this tonight when it’s time for PIZZA

(Sunday is my PIZZA night….yeah!!!) :)
    I know, I’m very pitiful. I need help! :(

  3. Wow. I love that quote. It is so inspiring and dead on. I think I will have to write that down and hang it over my treadmill, an on my fridge, and on my pantry door, and ….

  4. WOW that says it all, I became overwieght because I wanted instant grativication, it stopped all the feelings dead…….I learned that was not the answer, when I decieded to loss wieght,,,,,I had to work through the feelings, if I was ever going to be successful at losing wieght, I lost over 100lbs in about I yr………..anything I have ever done in life that was worthwhile,,,,,I had to be in it for the longhall,,,,,,
I started a running program,,,,I had never ran before…..when they told me I would be running 5 to 10k, by the end of the eight week course, I thought ya right,,,,,,but I was in it for the longhall,,,,,,guess what,,,,,It is the 7th week and I’m running 10k,,,,,I will be entering my first run the 3rd week of aug…..In the 2nd & 3rd week, when I thought I couldn’t do it,,,,I hung in there anyways,,,,I was determaned to at least finish the progam…..Here I am now getting ready to run a race……Never give up!!!!

  5. This is a great quote! With your permission, I would like to use it to jump start some freewriting and goal setting with my Senior English classes in the next couple of weeks. I am also adding it to the quote I have taped on my computer at school. Have a great weekend!

  6. love the quote and OMG EILEEN…….great comment and great inspiration….THANK YOU FOR COMMENTING. I needed it today!

  7. VERY GOOD POINT. and Im with susan that it’s not just about food huh?

  8. I agree.

  9. Thanks for putting that quote up, Roni! I really need that. I have lost 60 lbs, and have been maintaining for a year now. Lately, I just seem to have lost all motivation. I have gained 5 lbs back, so not much, but I am just terrified that it is going to turn into 10, then 15. I get on track for a day, and then BAM…cravings hit and I instantly give in. I am going to put this on my refrigerator. Roni, did you ever find a time in your maintenance where you just seemed to lose all motivation…maintenance is definitely harder than losing in my opinion.

  10. Dude, I might need to tattoo that to my hand or something so I’ll never lose it! That’s great! Thank you so much!

  11. I’m going to repeat that one to myself until I remember it. Great way to think about goals!

  12. My WW leader says this all the time and it is soooo true. The instant gratification of food is what sabotages my weight loss efforts most of the time. It applies to all areas of life too, not just fitness and weight loss. Great quote to remember!

  13. I need to write this on my hand.

  14. I’ve heard that one before … it’s great advice to remember, though. I should have thought of that before I went on “vacation” and fell off the WW wagon for the weekend. I doubt One-derland will be mine today … :P

  15. This comment is so great. I have been using it over and over again when I’m working out or when I want to reach for something I really don’t need to eat. Thanks for sharing!

  16. Wow. This one hurt.

    But it’s exactly what I do …
