So Much Sunday Stuff (Mostly Sensational)
August 3, 2008
*sigh* Why oh why does something always seem to go haywire when I just start to get ahead? Seriously? A few days ago I mentioned getting hit by a hacker. To combat, I upgraded my Wordpress installation hopefully increasing my security a bit and then, BANG! now I don’t get email notifications when you guys leave a comment. I’ve been debugging the problem for 2 days straight and I’m throwing my hands up. For the first time in my life I’m really stumped. Usually I figure these things out, sometime it may take me awhile but this is beyond “awhile”. I’m really stumped. So I will not be able to reply via email currently but I will reply to comments in the comments. I just hope I catch them all!
Anyway, I won’t bother you with any more boring details about it. I’ll bore you with these boring details instead. ;~P
There is just SO much happening.
- I just posted this weeks video over on GreenLiteBites, Blueberry-Mango “Crisp”. There’s a short surprise in the end. It isn’t much but the husband makes a short cameo.
- While on the video topic, I recorded 3 Ask Roni sessions today. I’m working on extracting the audio so I can post podcasts. I’m trying to figure the whole thing out and I hope to post the first one tomorrow.
- My garden is FINALLY producing a plethora of produce. Tomatoes, green beans and a zucchini the size of a baseball bat came out today. I LOVE having my small garden but I wish I had more time for it. I’m weeded over and the japanese beetles are having a field day!
- On the workout front, I feel like I’m slowly getting back up to my pre-surgery routine. Today I hit a step class and climbed the rock wall. Yesterday I ran a mile and lifted. I have to get my but in gear if I’m ever going to make my goals this year!
- If you saw my recent video post, you saw how emotional I became trying to answer Bab’s question. Well, we’ve been emailing back and forth and I have her permission to share our conversation. I’m hoping it will help motivate those of us that struggle with our body image issues. Look for that tomorrow, I wanted to post it earlier but this darn email thing set me back.
- Also keep an eye out for a new produce pick this week. I picked up a melon I never heard of before and I can’t wait to try it!
Finally, my food journal today. Hope you all had a great weekend!

I had TONS of trouble with my Wordpress upgrade. I was stuck too for the first time (mine was a photo insert problem). Luckily Windows Live Writer was my way of getting around it, but I’d be stuck without emailed comments too. Good luck Roni.

Roni, you are truly a one of a kind…I think it’s great that you have been taking not just the time but even the “head space” to reach out to one of your readers “Babs” and help her. Back in Jan. I fist discovered your site and emailed you to ask what helped you the most and you did the same and took the time for me. I am now about 20+ lbs lighter, now a runner and inspiring Triathlete….thanks for being the woman we all strive to be.

Roni,
Love your blog – has anyone ever told you that you look a lot like that actress on the TBS show “My Boys”? You have a lot of similar facial features, i think!
Have a great day!
Katie

Katie, That wouldn’t happen to be Sherry Stringfield would it? That is who my husband used to think I looked like, when she was on ER.
I always said I have a common face, I get the “you look like…” all the time! lol

Hi Roni, do you get emails from hungrygirl? She mentioned this morning that there is a new reality tv show that is looking for 4 chefs, and I thought of you immediately. You should really check it out.
A couple of days ago I left a message saying what a good cook you were, and that was BEFORE I tried the two recipes I had picked out. Unbelievable! The Veggie Summer Bake was fantastic, and I feel like I am eating something decadent and completely good for me at the same time. Could not be improved by adding cheese in my opinion! Then I used your recipe for Sweet and Tangy Salmon, but I had orange roughy defrosted already. It was delicious too! Thank you so much. You are my favorite recipe site!
Can’t wait to try the Blueberry Mango crisp. Might have to substitute some other fruit because I really want to try it today and I don’t have mango. I saw the recipe is up for the chocolate kettle corn, but I am lazy. This is what I do: use the 94% fat free kettle corn (jolly time is my favorite) and just suck on one points worth of dark chocolate while I am eating the kettle corn. Weird, I know, but it works for me.

Hi Roni,
I am by no means a gardening expert, but I might have a solution for the Japanese beetle problem in your garden. When my family used to live in Charlotte, NC, Japanese beetles were everywhere. People would hang special bags in their yards that would attract the beetles and then trap them. I can’t remember what they were called, but I bet a garden supply store would know the exact name. It might be a good alternative to spraying a pesticide on your garden and save the veggies for you to enjoy instead of the bugs!

Michelly – I totally been meaning to get one, but the husband thinks it will attract even more! LOL

my parents’ garden is producing like nuts….I am trying to keep up with all the tomatoes by turning it into sauce……….I throw grated zucchini in there too. This winter I will be grateful when I am pulling out the garden treasures from the freezer. I am going to check out your video now ;)
