Note to self…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…
HUNGER IS NOT AN EMERGENCY!
Just because you weren’t prepared and got stuck at the doctors office does NOT give you permission to go hog wild at dinner. Did you really need that appetizer? You couldn’t wait 10 more minutes for the salad? REALLY?!?! COME ON NOW. You know better!

For me, it’s not the going hog wild that’s the problem (anymore), but that I tend to grab the same thing each time, and it’s usually doesn’t last long.
I should remember these words when I’ve been stuck at work longer than expected (I work part time and never take a lunch), and I come home and don’t take the time to prepare something that will last me until dinner (it’s usually a quick sandwich that I end up eating for lunch). Then around 4pm I feel like I need a whole other meal again. If I just stopped to think of what would satisfy me for the next 4-5 hours, I might even end up adding a healthy vegetable to the meal. It’s also laziness on my part, if I’m going to be 100% honest about it. :-\

I’m loving the concept of eating a mini meal every 3 hrs….if you can….so you never get to “I’m so hungry, I could pass out”…….this is working for me most of the time. Sometimes, I just pop about 10 almonds and go. It really works :) Kind of tricks the brain!

I’ve been wondering why people (myself included) are so scared to be hungry. There’s a spoil of food in this country. I don’t think it’s the food’s fault, I think I need to take a deeper look inside.

powerful comment, Cintia.
Id not thought EVER of it framed as ‘fear of feeling the hunger’ in that direct a way….the fear of the EMPTY? yes.
