First day of School!

Oh My! I sent my little guy off to preschool today! Full day preschool!

I’m very torn about this, it’s weird. On one hand, I’m so excited about this school and all the things he will be learning. Plus being an only child I think it’s really important for him to be around the other kids. But he’s my little buddy! I’m going to miss him SO MUCH!

However, I feel I can finally get enough hours in the day to get all my work done where I don’t feel like I’m torn between spending time with him or getting accomplished what I need to. Now the mornings and evenings we’ll have no interruptions. Overall, I’m happy to have a consistent schedule this fall where I’m not doing a complete balancing act every day. All summer I just felt as if I was living day to day with no structure or plan.

So I didn’t post yesterday, except for my Note to Self. Like a typical weekend, my day started off GREAT and by night fall I’m snacking my way until bed. However, we did have an very active weekend. I got a great run in on Saturday and then Sunday the family when for a hike/picnic. We packed sandwiches and hit a local trail. About a milk into it the toddler was exhausted! So I ended up carrying him about 1/3 of the time. He’s just about 40 lbs and let me tell you, that’s a workout! My arms felt like spaghetti string by the time we made it back to the car.

The husband offered to carry him but I wanted the extra workout. Plus he was in one of those mushy moods. You know, where they want to rest their heads on your shoulders. I just love that and I know in a few years he won’t want to find comfort in moms embrace anymore. So I’m taking advantage now.

After the hike we ALL took naps. Man did that feel good. Then it was time to make dinner which I recorded for GreenLiteBites video of the week. I took my hand at Beer Butt Chicken and it was TO DIE FOR! The husband has already claimed the leftovers for lunch!

Other then that, I’m trying to get ahead today with a ton of work. I hope to be posting at least one of my book review today as well as record an Ask Roni video.

Oh! and the husband and I are took the initial test for hundredpushups.com! I’ll fill you in more later on this but he concept is to follow the program so in 6 weeks you can do 100 straight pushups!! We’ll see, I’m just happy the husbands into it.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

I can’t believe Ryan started school….that is sooooooooooo cute..i know it will be hard for you since he won’t be around.

Good luck training for the running…seems like your doing great so far.

Also totally off subject but the individual pizzas..I noticed a comment about trying it without cheese..my brother is lactose (spelling?) and he eats pizza without cheese all the time…actually my youngest brother for the longest time thought that pizza didn’t have cheese on it because he was always eating the one the middle brother ate :) haha…

There is a pizza place by our house who makes a “special sauce” for my brother…it tastes similar to a really good homemade spaghetti sauce and he usually puts sausage, onions, peppers, tomatoes, the “sauce” and sometimes olives or whatever other veggies he feels like that day….

have a great week!!!!!!! and good luck without the toddler..i’m sure he’ll miss mommy just as much as you miss him

Oh, I remember that day well! The first day of preschool. That’s a magical age!

    Enjoy your “me” time.

My first biological grandchild, Jax, went to all day Kindergarten for his first day last Wednesday…..and I wanted to cry. He has been going to 1/2 day Pre-K for the last 2 school years, but last Thursday was his first day to eat lunch in the school cafeteria, and that made his Mommy cry. (He love it, by the way!)

And my oldest grandchild (my other son married his Mommy when he was 4) is 9 (almost 10) now and he started school last Wednesday at the “middle school” (4th Grade) and he was so scared that he cried the night before, because other kids have been saying how all the older kids there are mean to the younger kids, and he was petrified. Well, his Mom took him to school and walked up with him, and once he saw all his friends and everything seemed “normal”, he told his Mom that he was going to be allright and she could go ahead and leave, so then his Mom went back to her car and cried.

    Man……life is hard sometimes, huh?

You realize that now you must now refer to him as “the Preschooler” not the toddler haha.

I bet you are sooo missing him right now! mmm…gonna check out the video. And yeah for you and hubby doing the challenge. I started week 6 today. I had to do week 5 twice.! I feel stronger and can see a difference in my arms!

I was thinking the same thing as Jess’s food coma; he’s not a toddler anymore :(

Ah well, he can always be your toddler.

Actually I was going to wait until kindergarten and then call him “the child”. LOL

    But you’re right, I guess he isn’t a toddler anymore :~(

Thanks everyone, day one went without a hitch! He loved it!

I love and get lots of motivation from your site. I am in a different season of life as my youngest daughter who is a high school senior has the chance to study 1300 miles from home for a semester. We leave in two days to take her there. It is always hard to leave them, even after you are used to being apart. I remember standing in the library crying the first time I went there without any of my kids after school started. The good news is that life goes on and we adjust and start new chapters.
