I'm new to your blog but noticed this post about water... i agree.. water is really the only thing i drink (except decaf coffee and teas)... i do not drink soda, have not in over 25 years (it makes me ill - i throw up due to too much carbonation and sugar!)... and yes, more water you drink the less you retain water. on days i consume a lot of salt and forget to drink a lot of water is when i retain. water is good for you!!

i also got laid off last year and noticed that it's harder to do the water at home. i forget! at work i brought with me a huge jug of water. it's a reminder to drink! now, i have a glass of water always filled in the kitchen. i go in there often and i drink when i see it. still, i dont think i'm drinking enough...

One other random reason for drinking water: it's better for your teeth. Apparently, drinking other beverages ups the acidity of your saliva, slowly breaking down the enamel on your teeth, causing cavities.

Thought I would share what the dentist told me!

I LOVE water! It's pretty much the only liquid I drink besides iced coffee and wine. :)

I am all about water, I love it. But I guess I'm a water-connoisseur because I was in Utah all last week at my sister's. She has a water softener now to help her hands and it made the water give me the 'moments away from a sore throat and cold' feeling. I don't know why but I didn't know how to counter it until I found some of those Crystal Lite mix-ins. I still missed water like crazy but at least I didn't wind up feeling on the verge of illness the rest of the trip.

First- Water on the East coast is amazing! I am envious, being a San Diego girl means you need to filter the tap with a great filter or reach for bottled, my house has both :) Maybe you could get a plastic gym water bottle to have with you during the day, so it won't spill and you can get a sip when you need it. I always have a full water bottle in my purse when I am out (and when its empty I crush it and recycle them). I can't even drink sodas anymore ick.

*clink* "to water"

I am all for water, I push everyone to drink it and feel it is essential to weight loss -despite what the experts say! When I drink my 8 glasses, I feel great. My OB, when I was 7 months pregnant (in August) said the only way to get the swelling down was to drink more water. I think it does the body good, and always report a good weight loss when I drink a lot of water in the week! Now, if I could just get to the bathroom before I start doing the pee pee dance, that would be great!

I, also, have a hard time with getting my water down each day. But I have found out that if I was some flavoring with my water then I can handle it. I have found that "TrueLemon" that comes in three flavors really helps me. Also, on their web site you can send for a free sample. That way you don't spend your money then decided you don't like it. Also, they have sent around 1,000,000 packages overseas to the soldiers. To me that is a company to deal with.

Hey Roni, I totally relate! I am a graphic Designer and a Sales Rep. working from home! I have worked from home for 3 yrs now and it was really hard to start a routine. Once I had one down tho, it was easy to stick with it. One rule I had to implement is- NO housework unless it's 10:00, 12:00, or 2:30! Those are scheduled break times, and also water refill times. I would catch myself constantly battling with doing the dishes or designing the next hat. I made a pact with myself- dishes are to do when I "get home" or on break. WOrk is to be done during "work" hours! That works for me! I was driving myself nuts! I also use those scheduled break times as water refill times. I may not always drink it all, but it's in front of my for the choosing! Hang in there, you'll get a routine figured out- just remember to do whatever works best for you!!

If you're trying to hydrate but don't love plain water, try this 'recipe'!

One of my favorite drinks on a hot summer day is an Arnold Palmer (half iced tea, half lemonade). It's supposed to be 85 and humid here today, so I just made myself a "Passion Palmer" (I made that up, I know it's a dumb name) and it is so flippin' good!

First I made a pitcher of Crystal Lite lemonade. Then I made a batch of iced tea using Tazo "Passion" Herb Tea (yummy and a gorgeous pink color!). Pour equal amounts of both over ice and sip away! If I'm trying to be fancy I would garnish with a slice of lemon and a mint sprig. ;-)

They have this drink at Starbucks (using real lemonade, of course) and they charge big bucks for it!
