What are some of your Favorite Quotes?
June 17, 2008
I couldn’t miss the question of the week!
I love quotes! Some people just have great insight and prospective and I love reflecting on words of wisdom from those with different experiences then my own. So tonight I went on a quote hunt and just read page after page. Some are funny, some inspirational, motivational and just overall interesting life lessons.
This one really stood out for me tonight…
There are two things to aim at in life; first to get what you want, and after that to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind has achieved the second.
-Logan Pearsall Smith
A few others that caught my eye…
The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don’t define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them.
Denis Watley
People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.
George Bernard Shaw
Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.
Jim Ryun
People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success.
Norman Vincent Peale
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.
Anatole France
So how about you? Any favorites out there? If you can’t think of one I recommend searching and reading through a few. It’s really a fun way to find some inspiration and motivation!

my two favorites:
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” - Mahatma Gandhi
and
“I drink champagne when I am happy, and when I am sad. Sometimes I drink it when I’m alone. When I have company, I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I’m not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it–unless I am thirsty”.-Madame Bollinger

The following quote was one of my mother-in-law’s favorites. Sadly, she passed away last summer from Lou Gehrig’s disease. It has now become one of my favorite quotes!
“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that matter. It’s the life in your years.”
-Abraham Lincoln

I would like to share my two favorite quotes:
If you are not happy with what you have how will you ever be happy with what you want.
If it is to be, it is up to me.

How weird. I get a quote a day sent to my email address because I just love them. I read today’s one and thought, ‘that must go on my blog and fridge’ and then I saw your post! Anyway I think this quote sums up perfectly the weight loss/healthy eating struggle.
“Don’t be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones tend to take care of themselves.”

My two favorites
First quote is one I got when I made a purchase from Signals catalog. It came engraved on a bracelet. I’ve stopped wearing the bracelet and after reading this topic I’m going to dig out the bracelet and start wearing it again. It was very inspiring and definitely when I felt down about my weight it would encourage me to keep going. Author unknown. The quote reads:
“Nothing is as important as this day.”
My second one again author unknown:
“You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It’s your choice how to live your life.”

Pick your eyes up from the pavement. Look the world in the face with love, and know each person, including you, has worth beyond compare. Never forget: the external is a temporary illusion, while the internal will always be there.

One of my favorites is:
There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstances permit. When you’re committed to smething, you accept no excuses, only results. Art Turock

That wasnt very nice to not tell us how you’re feeling and how everything went.. :(
but i will be nice and tell you my favorite quote.. it came on the inside of a Dove chocolate wrapper
(dark chocolate of course!!!)and anything that wraps a peice of dark chocolate is good in my book!
It says:
“Be the change you hope to see.”
It was really influential to me at the time because i was in a big fight with my sister in law and always blamming her for everything, and saying bad things about her. It sure gave me a kick in the pants!
