Starkist tune filletsHaving a coupon, I bought a package of Starkist Light Meat Tuna Fillets months ago. Investigating it at the grocery store I discovered 1 package was 1 serving weighing it at only 2 points. So I picked up a few packs thinking they’d make a nice quick diner when I didn’t feel like cooking. So I threw the packages in the back of the pantry and forgot about them.

Until tonight, that is. It’s one of those days. I have no desire to cook, I’m by myself and I’m hungry. What’s a girl to do?

I pull out the tuna, popped it in the microwave. Pull out some instant brown rice, popped it into the microwave and viola! a 6 point dinner! Pair it with some veggies or a salad and it’s quite a satisfying meal.

I chose the lightly salted flavor and it was simply yummy. The tuna had that slightly dry texture that tuna does but there was a bit of flavoring I was able to pour over the rice. I was very happy with the amount of nutritional value for the buck! I’ll definitely be picking up some more packages for nights like tonight! It would make a great lunch too!

I have been buying these for a while now, they’re great to take to work for lunch. They teriyaki is also delicious. Sometimes, I like to put it over whole wheat pasta for something different.

I tried one of these today for my lunch. It might have been a different brand though (Bumble Bee, maybe?). Mine was 3 points for the whole package, but there was a lot of tuna. I chose the ginger/soy flavored one and mixed it up with Choice ramen noodles. YUM!

I use these filets on salads as a way to increase the filling-ness factor of a salad. the only problem is picking the right dressing so you arent mixing the marinade from the tuna with another flavor from the dressing.
