FUNDERWEAR DAY!
That’s right, Fun-derwear! As in fun-underwear.
Can you tell I have a toddler? :~)
Funderware is my made up term for the day we moved to “big boy” underpants. That’s right ladies and gentleman we are in the midst of potty training!
Taking the advice of many a mom, I scheduled a day. I’ve been building up Funderware for over a week now. We wrote it on the calender and every night we’ve been counting down. Last night, we picked out our fun pair. The toddler? Diego. Mom? Flowers & stars. Dad? Shamrocks.
This morning the family proceeded to put on their selected underwear and the festivities began. By 10AM we were on our 4th pair and I was regretting my decision. But by lunch two successful trips to the potty and by dinner he was telling me “No potty now, later, I’ll tell YOU!”. LOL “I’ll tell you”?!? He never did, but he started to go every time I took him. Right now he’s diaper-less and sleeping. *sigh* I shutter to think what I have in store for me tomorrow morning. :~)
Sorry for my parenting detour, it was just a big part of my day. On the diet front, I’m doing OK. Being home has it’s pros & cons. On the good side, I can grab a healthy snack when I’m hungry. On the bad side, I can grab an unhealthy snack when I’m hungry. Today I chose healthy. I do LOVE the fact that I get to eat breakfast with the toddler (the husband has a hard time getting up), then lunch and dinner is with the whole family. We sit and eat healthy food together and it’s nice. I mean real nice. So nice it makes me smile. :~)
Even with all the Funderware Day festivities, I made great strides on the new site. I think I’ll be ready in two weeks but don’t hold me to that! :~) I also got ahead on a few client projects. However, now my inbox is a mess. I seem to be able to tackle one or the other at any given time, email OR project work. Today I chose work.
Tomorrow I’m at my client’s office again, so it’s off to bed for me. I have a busy morning!
Oh! and on the recover front. I’m doing well. I actually feel more sore today but it’s not unbearable. Just tender to the touch. Swelling is still bad but it’s not AS bad. I’m really still waiting to see the results. With all the water weight it’s hard and the worst part, it can take months for the swelling to subside. Some say it can be 6 months before I see the actually results. So much for plastic surgery being a quick fix, huh? ;~P It is its own journey. I truly believe everything we do is.
Here’s the food journal, until tomorrow…

If I was a good blogger this idea would have been published BEFORE the Super Bowl not during it. I made these today to have a little fun. Surprisingly, The Husband liked them even though he didn't eat more than one. Why? Because he's strange like [...] -
If you read my weight loss blog you know I'm battling a bit of back and neck pain right now. I'm starting to feel a little better but those first few days where rough. Being the head chef of the household, this meant we ordered in a couple of times. I'm [...] -
I'm LOVING Pinterest! I can just scroll all day long looking at food photo after food photo. I wish I had more time to peruse! (I'm RoniNoone there by the way?) The other day I pinned a Portabello Mushroom pizza and was immediately inspired. It's such a simple idea and so light. [...] -
The other day I found myself craving an Orange Julius. Are they as popular as I think they are? Growing up we had an Orange Julius at our local mall. It was always a treat for us at the end of a family shopping trip. Once I was old enough to be [...] -
So I'm a little breakfast nutty at the moment. Little Bean LOVES eggs and I find myself cooking them more and more. This morning I decided to go super light (after last nights chocolate overload) and it was totally satisfying for just over 100 calories! The trick to making [...] -
A few weeks ago I saw Chef Michael Simon make a raw kale salad on The Chew. He sliced beets up real thin and cut the kale into ribbons. Then made a vinaigrette out of red wine vinegar and olive oil. I was immediately intrigued. So far I've only [...] -
I've had this idea for a quick creamy chicken dish for a few days now. It was time to give it a shot. The whole family LOVED it. I'm not joking. The only complaint came from Little Guy who declared his hate of mushrooms yet again BUT he ate everything around them. Fine [...] -
I made this on a total whim yesterday as I had leftover avocado after feeding the baby and leftover Spaghetti squash cooked from the weekend. I roasted the squash to serve with my Chicken tips instead of potatoes and it was AMAZING! Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. So I'm sitting there staring [...] -
It's post holiday season. You know what that means? Leftover Crescent rolls to experiment with! Every year for Thanksgiving I buy a few canisters. It's the only time I do as I can't be trusted around them. Let's just say I'd beat you in the How-Many-Crescent-Rolls-Can-You-Eat-In-One-Sitting game and leave [...] -
Last week the kids and I tried parsnips for the first time and I've made them 3 times since. I wanted to figure out the best way to roast them. Yeah, that's it, the best way to roast them. You'll buy that right? Right? The truth is, I'm obsessed. I found myself [...] -
Yesterday just felt like a good day to stuff an acorn squash. I had one sitting on my counter for quite some time and it was just begging to be cooked. Since both husband and child don't like it I made a solo meal just for me and, well, it was DELICIOUS! [...] -
I bought a fennel bulb on a whim for the holidays not knowing quite what I would do with it. Of course I forgot about until yesterday when I was rummaging through the fridge trying to figure out what I wanted to make for breakfast. I pulled it out and stared [...] -
I probably should have warned you I was taking a holiday hiatus. I've been soaking up every moment of family time imaginable these last few days, leaving no time for anything else. Not even blogging! Shocking I know. ;) So I return not with a new recipe, per se, but to [...] -
Here's a quick idea for when you find yourself with a spaghetti squash but don't quite know what to do with it. Come on. Admit it. That's happened to you too. It's sure happened to me! I roasted this squash on Sunday... [...] -
I'm not sure if this will be a crowd pleaser, but I liked it and thought I'd share in hopes it inspires you to have some fun with kale. I loved the combination of sweet pear, earthy kale, salty bacon bits and creamy hummus. The only issue with the wrap was [...] -
I'm going on day 2 of counting Weight Watcher Points and I'm already inspired to come up with light, healthy meals for myself. It's like I needed the constraint of points to motivate me. Isn't that weird? Anyway, all morning I was brainstorming what to make for lunch. I wanted something flavorful [...] -
I have a friend who patiently cleaned, peeled and cubed a fresh pumpkin and then selflessly gave me some. Scratch that, a TON! I would have never even thought of doing something like that! But now that I have it in my fridge the ideas are flowing. First, I roasted some [...] -
CHRISTMAS COOKIES! YAY! Sorry. I'm so excited! Little Guy and I had tons of fun making and decorating cookies today. It may just be my favorite part of the holiday season. I loved it when I was a kid and now I get to do it with my own kids. [...] -
This may be my simplest idea yet, but it was so tasty and satisfying I had to share. Plus you guys know I'm a Laughing Cow Community Leader so I'm all about sharing fun ways to use their products. You guys may also know how I feel about pausing and making [...] -
I made this on Thursday. THURSDAY! I hate when I can't post something I've eaten within 24 hours. It just bugs me. Not sure why, it really doesn't matter when I post it, does it? Anyway, I did whip this up to cure a pizza craving and I couldn't be happier. [...] -
It's been awhile since I jazzed up a tilapia fillet. I've breaded them before, coated them in oats, flavored them like one of my favorite drinks and topped them with a fun salsa. It was time to bring nuts into the party. You are going to think I'm crazy but I've [...] -
Fun leftover turkey idea #2! Click here for leftover turkey idea #1. I had a little Gouda leftover from this years Harvest Salad and decided to put all the same flavors from the salad into a quesadilla. I just can't get enough of the smokey gouda/sweet craisin combo. It goes [...] -
It's the day after Thanksgiving and my refrigerator ROCKS! I have leftover turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, roasted Brussels Sprouts, a bunch of veggies and tons of miscellaneous fun stuff. I've already made stock from the bones (like this) and my first batch of soup, Classic Turkey Noodle. I hope to share [...] -
I'm so sorry I've been slacking in the Thanksgiving recipe department. I feel like a bad food blogger. Everyone else is posting festive ideas and here I've gone missing for a few days. Maybe it's because I'm not doing anything special for Turkey day. I finally got my holiday cooking [...] -
I just made a quick, tasty one pot meal the whole family ate without complaint! And when I say "whole" I mean WHOLE! The Baby, The Little Guy, AND The Picky Eater Husband! Here's the story…I was in NO mood to spend a lot of time on dinner. The thought [...]

I have to say I am impressed that you sent him to bed w/out a diaper on your very first day! Wow! We have been officially pt for about 3 weeks now (that is no more than 1 accident a week) and he still wears a pull-up to bed. I am just not ready for that.
Sounds like you guys had a good time tho. Just keep at it during the day…
wait, you weren’t asking for advice tho, were you?
Great job picking the healthy snacks. I did too today so I was pretty pleased w/myself!
That sounds like so much fun. You’re an awesome mom!
good morning from a woman who thinks her Toddler shall be sleeping in diapers until prom.
this? says it all in my eyes:
Today I chose healthy.
happy client-office day.
Miz.
“Toddler” is sooo cute (Does he have a name ;-) ?) “I’ll tell YOU!!”.
But… aren’t you making it hard for you, and him, by tackling nights already? Not one of my 9 children, (no, that’s not a typo) nine, was ready for nights as soon as they were ready for days- You may be setting him up for failure, which will make the days harder. I suggest you perfect days first. That way he (and you) can enjoy his success first, and then after awhile of being dry during the day, you can try nights- unless he starts waking up with a dry diaper- which would be great!!
Good luck!
Thanks guys!
I’ll be mysterious with the toddler’s name. However, if you watch any GreenLiteBites videos, you’ll know as he does introduce himself. *wink* *wink*
As for the nights and diapers. Well, I was going to put on these leak free underwear I got with the plastic lining (used them at nap) but he insisted on “Big Boy Underwear” and i wasn’t about to argue! So we’ll see how it goes. Plus we’ve been “working on the PT for a few weeks now with pull ups, this was just our move to underwear.
I’m not sure it was the right move either but part of me wanted to tackle the pT thing gangbusters. So we are taking the “there’s no going back now” approach. Again, not sure if it’s the right thing. Ahhh the decisions on mommyhood!!! lol
He’ll be fine with the nights. Have you seen the waterproof pads (like a fitted sheet) you can buy for the matress. If he wants to wear big boy underwear at nights..by all means, do it. I used it and it made clean up easy. I would just pull it off and wash and not have to worry about ruining the matress. Enjoy these day…sigh..when they are gone, they are gone. I remember when my son was potty training – he will be 13 in October.
Shawnda
If that’s what he wants, go for it!! Better that than discouraging him!
My eldest (29 yrs old, Shawnda- with two of his own… double sigh!!) trained in 1.5 hours at 22 months, but we kept his night diaper on (cloth in those days…) until he was three, and then he got a “big boy’s bed”- and I told him boys that sleep in big boys beds don’t wear diapers at night- we put a plastic sheet under his sheet, but he never wet his bed.
From my experiance, each child is sooo different.
you’re brave- good luck!!
I LOVE the funderwear idea. Heh. Luckily – I am DONE with pottytraining. :-)
We’re working on our second boy. He will be three later this month. Our first child was 3 and 1/2 yes…3 1/2 before we started and he learned in a day….and learned nights the same time. He was easy….maybe because he was so old….but second one is different and more difficult….but it’s nice to have a challenge! Great job with the training and the healthy day.
What a great idea for potty training! I can barely remember those days now that my little one is 17!! I do remember doing the cheerios-in-the-toilet thingie. He still seems to have really good aim!
I’m not even potty training a toddler and I have funderwear too! Although my definition is just fun underwear, no PT involved. I will definitely remember that term, though when/if I have kids. How cute!
I think that one of the biggest reasons people gain weight is stress. between work kids spouse ect…
People Don’t have enough time to take care of your self, life is hectic we all know that so we have something that you should try out…….
Roni, This absolutely works: Take a day and set the timer for fifteen minutes continuously. Every fifteen minutes take him into the bathroom to “try” to use the potty. No pressure, but just to “try”. If he goes number one, he gets an M&M. If he goes number two, he gets two M&M’s. It works like a charm, and in one day! The next day he’ll be telling you, “let’s go use the potty!”
