question of the weekAhhh the question of the week. I almost forgot!!

While making eggs with the toddler this morning, it hit me. Hmmm I wonder what everyone else is having for breakfast these days. I tend to reach for the same handful of options over and over again and it’s getting boring.

So…. What do you eat for breakfast?

I’m hoping to get a good list going!

Ok, I’m going crazy! I asked this question a few months back! LOL

  1. Christy says:

Apple Sauce Oatmeal and a hard boiled egg…So yummy.
1c Oats cooked with 1 c skim milk…then I add 1T ICBINB Spray, .5T Splenda Brown, and 1/2 cup of sugar free apple sauce. I usually only eat about 1/2 of what I make and save the rest for my hubby.

  2. Laura says:

Pumpkin Pie Yogurt. I got the recipe idea from Kath Eats.

    200 g source vanilla yogurt
    1/2 canned pumpkin puree
1/2 tsp each of pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, vanilla extract

Sometimes, I’ll add some granola for crunch or I’ll make it the night before, add some quick oats and let it sit in the fridge overnight. Very tasty and filling indeed.

  3. Sparkalina says:

Egg beaters with zucchini, onion, spinach, and sometimes FF Feta cheese scrambeled in olive oil.

Seriously some days I crave it!

  4. Alisha says:

1 pt waffles with a fresh sliced peach on top…sometimes a TB of SF FF Cool whip too mmmm or a drizzle of honey…..my vitamuffin mix muffins with variations and crumb topping that is to die for…nobody knows these are only 1-2 pts

  5. Erika says:

I usually have a WW smoothie and a piece of fruit.

  6. Aimee H. says:

Kashi cereal with a banana, 1/2 cup granola with yogurt and a banana, bell pepper scramble in a whole wheat wrap, oatmeal with a banana, homemade muesli.. I tend to crave carbs in the morning!

  7. Michelle Trif says:

1/2 c fiber one mixed with 1/2 c Total Raisin Bran and 1/2 c lowfat milk. Boring, I know. But I love me some fiber!

  8. rohanknitter says:

Generally, some plain yogurt with fruit and a sprinkling of granola.
Some days, a WW smoothie with fruit and a dollop of plain yogurt added.

  9. Rebecca says:

Funny I NEVER ate breakfast pre WW. I can’t go without it now. I have several things I eat regularly.
    1. Kashi go lean cereal(the high protein kind not the crunch) mixed with lt yogurt. This is my on the run breakfast I eat it in a big coffee cup on the way to work.
    2. Veggie scramble with lot of veggies and maybe cheese or canadian bacon and lt toast.
    3. egg white sandwich with canadian bacon. Another on the go breakfast.
    4. Steele cut oats and whatever fruit I have on hand mixed in.
    5. My new favorite hot cereal is oat bran with fruit.
    6. Roni’s whole wheat pancakes topped with yogurt.

COFFEE lots of it with all of the above. If I think of something else I will post.
    Thanks
    Rebecca

  10. Angela says:

I’m quite boring, I kind of do two different things…

    1. 1 1/2 cups bran cereal and 1/2 cup milk with Splenda (5 points)

    2. 2 slices of bread, 1 Tbsp. peanut butter and 1/2 banana (4 points)

  11. KellyLeia says:

    1 cup of sliced strawberries
    1 cup of cheerios
1 container of Stonyfield low fat yogurt (whatever is in the fridge)

I eat half the yogurt first, otherwise the parfait thing gets too soupy, I like crunchy.

And coffee with 3tbsp of carnation fat free french vanilla creamer.

  12. dawn says:

2 low fat nutrigrain waffles spread with PB2. Only 3 points!

  13. Anonymous says:

A Thomas’ Light English muffin (toasted), a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese and a TBS of raw sunflower seeds. 3 pts

  14. cheryl says:

WW yogurt mixed with 1/2 cup Grape Nuts Trail Mix Crunch (Cranberry Vanilla) and either sliced banana or strawberries. Very good and very filling.

  15. Michelle says:

My breakfast gets boring too at times:

Low-fat lite yogurt with a sprinkle of Kroger brand low fat granola. Sometimes I will add grapes or blackberries. 2-points, 3 if I add extra fruit

Egg Beater omelette with a slice of 2% cheese with a couple of slices of lite toast

Cup of corn flakes with 1/2 cup 1% Milk – 3 points

Light toast with two teaspoons of Reduced fat Peanut Butter.

BTW, I read in Women’s Health (May Issue) that if a person got 22 to 50 percent of their total daily calories at breakfast, they gained only 1.7 pounds on averae over four years. Those who ate zero to 11 percent of the cals in the AM gained nearly three pounds.

    Makes sense to eat breakfast.

  16. Paul & Julie says:

Talk about boring – I’ve eaten the same exact breakfast every day for the past 5 years: Kashi GoLean Crunch with a handful of frozen mixed berries, skim milk, and a sprinkle of ground flaxseed. On the rare occasions where I have to eat out for breakfast, I’ll have this as my lunch or dinner. I literally eat this for one meal every single day, but it’s so good, I never get tired of it, and I truly think it has helped me maintain my weight.

  17. Anonymous says:

Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt, 1/2 c. of frozen berries and a serving of All-Bran cereal. Only 4 points, super filling with los of protien and fiber!

  18. gottajavefaith says:

My current favorite breakfast is a piece of toasted Ezekiel bread with peanut butter and a bowl of nonfat greek yogurt and fresh fruit. Filling and delicious and hits all the right spots: salt, sweet, crunchy, creamy…yum!

For variation, I like making oatmeal, sometimes mixed with other whole grains, and the occasional egg breakfast. Scrambled eggs with spinach and nonfat feta and a side of fresh tomato is delicious.

  19. Jessica says:

1 container of Yoplait Light (any flavor) + 1/4 cup of craisins

It runs about 200 calories, and you get a nice serving of protein, dairy, and fruit to start the day. It’s also very portable for those of us who eat at work.

I’ve experimented with different flavors on the yogurt, but I tend to prefer the apple turnover.

  20. MizFit says:

Im so boring during the week as it’s all rushed.
2 or 3 wedges of Laughing Cow cheese (hastily crammed in mouth whilst doing 11 other things. Good fast protein/fat.)
Spoonfuls of flax & chia (inhaled as fast as I can while Toddler Tornado yells “I want that! I want that!”)

2 cups of scrambled egg beaters/substitute.

some oatmeal (half cup? Im guesstimating) hastily made and left to sit on counter until lumpy & cold (perfect!) and I can eat it quickly.

2 morning star farms veggie patties (love.)

(water, vitamin, tums for calcium, extra vitamin C)

it’s all kinds of glamour up in herre in the mornings.

GREAT QUESTION as I so enjoyed the comments!

  21. dyanne says:

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so I have lots of ideas.
    1. weight control quaker oatmeal (maple brown sugar flav) made with hot water and 1/2 banana
    2. special k vanilla and milk, with blueberries or raspberries
    3. fibre 1 honey clusters and milk
    4. ww bread french toast- 2 slices with 1 egg + 1 egg white, no sugar syrup
    5. crumpet and no sugar fruit preserves, or light pb
    6. 2 egg omelet with lots of veggies, 1 egg and 1 egg white
    7. ww english muffin with egg and canadian bacon and light cheese (this is a splurge!)
AND always with a soy latte- I use Silk vanilla soy milk, heat 1/2 c in the microwave for 40 s, froth with my electric frother, then add splenda and coffee.

  22. Leah says:

1). Go Lean Instant Oatmeal mixed with 1/2 a mashed banana
2). Go Lean Crunch with a big handful of whatever berries I have on hand
3). Scrambled eggbeaters with a veggie sausage, salsa, and rf cheddar in a corn tortilla
4). A Vans 97% ff toasted waffle topped with 1/2 a Yoplait ff yogurt and berries

  23. Kris says:

During the summer months I LOVE eating fresh fruit or fruit smoothies for breakfast with an oz. of almonds. During the winter I usually do 1/4 cup of egg beaters with cut of veggies, and eighter eat it with whole wheat toast or wrap it in a tortilla. It’s almost like I crave the juicy fruit during the hot months. And its a very refreshing breakfast!

  24. Anonymous says:

    Mulit-gran waffle covered
    with Strawberry yogrut
    then fresh fruit on top.

It taste like dessert and fills me up. Ok sometimes I have 2

  25. Liz says:

Love to read the responses – great thread!

I usually eat either steel cut oats with frozen berries and a half banana topped with Fage and ground flax or a veggie egg white omlette with a WW pita. I also like the Van’s 97% FF waffles with thinned PB2 dripped on top and a little maple syrup, mmmm soo good!

  26. sheri says:

I have a toasted Thomas’s light multigrain english muffin with 1/4 c. garden veggie egg beaters, 1 slice WW american cheese and 2 slices Land O Frost canadian bacon for 3.5 pts. I try to stay low on breakfast points and this does that while leaving me satisfied.

  27. shawna says:

    I eat either:

3 egg whites and 1 whole egg, hardboiled

    or

3 egg whites and 1 whole egg, scrambled with cheese and veggies in a 1 pt wrap

Depends on how hungry I am.

If I’m in a rush, I’m digging the Bagelfuls these days. Not super-healthy but much better than grabbing a bagel or muffin out.

  28. erin says:

I love to eat chicken salad. I get up around 4 am, so by 8, I am starving! I have an apple around 5 and then either a turkey sandwich or a chicken salad sandwich (made with low fat mayo, chicken, spices, celery and onion) and that keeps me full until lunch!

  29. Allison says:

100 calorie english muffin with ICBINB spray – and a serving of low fat cottage cheese – it doesn’t look like a lot on your plate – but MAN does it fill you up!

  30. kikimonster says:

I’m boring as well. I have a bowl of either Kashi Go Lean OR Fiber One Caramel Delight and a half a grapefruit with a large mug of black coffee.

  31. Runeatrepeat says:

Today I had an oatbran pancake with 1/2c egg beaters on the side. This combo has a lot of protien and fiber.
Normally I have 2 breakfasts basedon the weather:
Hot Weather: some kind of high fiber cereal mix with milk
Cold Weather: Oatbran followed by yogurt

But, if you want to try something new…have you ever had soy chorizo?

  32. Anonymous says:

Today, I had my most ultimate breakfast. Steel cut oats with litehouse caramel dip 1 teaspoon. The reduced fat version. Talk about delish. My new favorites.

  33. DLAOKC says:

I’ve been experimenting, trying to find something that STAYS with me til noon. Success with my last two days: a smoothie of 1/2 a frozen banana, 1 T. almond butter, 1 cup light soy milk, a scoop of protein powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, Splenda, 1 cup crushed ice… YUM! and today, I threw in a cup of spinach – can’t even tell it’s there!

  34. Karen says:

Almost always oatmeal… the real honest-to-goodness rolled oats kind. I like it thick, so I use anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 cup of oats depending on how hungry I am, then add about 1.5 times that of water, and microwave for 2.5 minutes. Then add about 1/2 T brown sugar and 1/2 T half-and-half. (a splurge that I’ve grown used to, and only 0.5 pt)

The 2.5 minutes allows me to deal with MY toddler during the time, getting him food and getting his shoes on, etc. :)

  35. Laura Brandon says:

i have a bowl of kashi golean crunch! honey almond flax, with half a cup of milk, and i have a banana and some juice

  36. The Roaming Southerner says:

1.) 2 egg whites on a light wheat bread (.5 pts)
2.) 2 Lo Fat Nutri Grain Waffles 2 pt
3.) NEW! Lenders whole wheat bagel with 2 Tbs of fat free cream cheese, tomato and onion slices 2.5pt

All of mine are meant to eat on the go.
and I usually eat a Weight Watchers yogurt later in the morning as well

I love hearing some new ideas!

  37. Anonymous says:

maple and brown sugar oatmeal eaten with apple slices!

    peanut butter, jelly, banana toast

cereal with yogurt and banana slices

waffles with fruit and lite syrup

egg beater, lite cheese, jelly sandwich

  38. Anonymous says:

I take a slice of low fat Kraft American Cheese (30 calories) and stick divide it up onto a Thomas’s light multigrain english muffin (100 calories) and toast it. [130 calories total]

Sometimes I put a thin slice of Buddings deli ham on with it to make it taste a lot like a McDonald’s Egg McMuffin. (145 total calories)

Along with a big 16 oz mug of hot tea. The tea makes me feel warm and full and the gooey of melted cheese is nice.

  39. Char says:

Nothing too fancy. I usually have a bowl of sugar free shredded wheat, lactaid milk and either rasberries or banana.

Once a week, I do splurge off the WW diet and go out to eat breakfast. That usually ends up being a large egg beater omelette or a pancake.

  40. Kristina says:

I love turkey smoked sausage lately! 2 points for 2 oz but very filling. good with a tad bit of sugar free syrup. Or egg whites and some light cheese. mmm

  41. Anonymous says:

I’ve been having cereal most days. My favorite is Nature’s Path Optimum Slim cereal, 1 cup has something like 10g protein and 11g fiber. I’m not exactly sure of those numbers (box got thrown away the other day), but 1 cup of it with whatever fruit I have around and about 3/4 cup skim milk, and I’m good to go for at least 4-5 hrs. Its got a nice flavor to it, lots of different textures too. Sometimes I eat it dry as a snack too. It works out to about 5 points, depending on how much fruit and how much milk I add.

  42. Emily says:

Every morning I have a South Beach Living Chocolate Peanut Butter Meal Bar from the fridge (I like them better chilled!). They fill me up and keep me going! Plus, how much easier can it get!?! I don’t even have to get dishes dirty! (And I can take it on the go!) They only have 210 calories with 19g protein & 6g fiber! YUM!

  43. Colette says:

2 Smart Portions Blueberry Muffins ( 2 pts) < --- these are the only muffins I have found that are not dry!!
    1 orange (1 pt)
Coffee w/ Splenda and powder creamer

  44. Anonymous says:

A banana, yogurt, 1 slice of cinnamon raisin toast, 4 oz. of MM light oj, and Sturms Oatmeal with just a bit of light soymilk. If I eat a decent sized breakfast, I tend to taper off the rest of my points throughout the day.

  45. Michele says:

Roni – I actually got my standard every day breakfast idea from you when I first started reading your blog last year! I eat 45 gm. of Fiber One “bulked up” with about a cup of strawberries and 1 oz. sliced banana. I top it with 1 cup of light soy milk. It’s so good and so filling! Only 2.5 pts. I love it!

  46. NerdbyNature says:

I have these bean and cheese burritos that are only 4 points so I usually have one of those and one serving of baked chips… not the best breakfast but I crave it. I now have tons of other breakfast ideas after reading everyone’s comments…thanks!

  47. zazu says:

Breakfast is the easiest meal for me. I don’t get tired of the same things:

cereal with berries or a banana (usually Special K or cheerios)
Eggo waffles, plain or with SF syrup
egg on wheat toast or English muffin
    oatmeal when it’s cold outside
occasionally a smoothie or a yogurt
cereal bars or special K bars when I’m in a hurry and don’t have time fo the above.

  48. Dani Spies says:

I’m always changing it up but lately it’s been almond butter and banana sandwiches on ezekiel bread…great breakfast on the go!

  49. jancat30 says:

    1. Plain oatmeal with whatever fruit I have and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
    2. Egg white omelet loaded with veggies and lite 100% whole wheat toast/dry ( I pile the omelet on it).
    3. 100% Whole Wheat Bagel, banana.

Occasionally, I will have cereal but not often.

I usually have a little Skim Milk too. And of course, coffee, black.

  50. Tuff-Stuff says:

I have a few different breakfasts, all of which avoid corn syrup:

Kashi Healthy Heart cereal with 1% milk
Whole grain toast with natural peanut butter and a 1/2 cup of 1% milk
Cut fresh fruit mixed with greek yogurt and splenda topped with almonds

    Breakfast is my favorite meal!
