The Big Weigh In!
May 21, 2008
Ok, if you read my Scale Habits post you know it’s been a LONG time since weighing in. Well today was the BIG day.
How did I do without looking at the scale for 6 WEEKS?!? I didn’t even track points and I only journaled my food a few days here and there.
Well, I am happy to report I was down .8!! Which is a perfect maintenance number. I’m still a few pounds up from where I want to be but I am ecstatic! I feel as if I can trust myself a little more now. I do not have to be a slave to the scale to maintain my weight. Now I want to kick it up a notch and loose these 4 pounds!
So I have FINALLY updated my Weight Progress page. However, I hit a snag with the new MAC. I don’t have Excel and my weight charts aren’t translating well in my Office knock off software. So the table is updated but the charts aren’t. I may have to figure out a new system.
On top of that, (I’m just having technical difficulties all day today!) I was going to post my food journal but I lost it. Seriously I can not find the file anywhere! I don’t know why I decided to change the way I journal. Normally I just email myself all day and then type it all up when I post. Well today I decided I’d keep a separate file and I think I closed it without saving it. Dummy me. Anyway, I am tracking and I am planning to weigh in again next week.
Ok, I’m off as I am up too late yet again.
PS I’m having a hard time breaking the night time post habit. I could NOT wait until tomorrow to tell you all this! LOL

Congratulations Roni, I’m really impressed and proud of you! I havent weighed in about 6 weeks myself so you’ve inspired me to go to my mtg. and WI regardless of what I “think” the scale might say. :) Thanks for sharing such a personal thing with all of us. :) Take Care.

You can pick up the “Home & Student Edition” of Windows 2008 (for Mac) at Costco for $125, on the apple website it’s $150.

congrats.
that maintaining without r-e-a-l-l-y strugglingfocusing is such a huge deal.
(now the childish part of my comment) it hit me this morning as I clicked over to you that you should do your next video as ONLY TODDLER :)
that might blow your nasty emailer’s mind :)
have a great day.

Great job Roni!
I use Google Docs to host charts since I have a mac too and it hosts it on the web. Very easy and a link to embed the item into the blog.
Even better is the fact that i go into google docs every week, update the number and then hit ‘republish’ and it automatically updates the blog.

congrats on holding your own with your weight. I go back and forth with weighing and not weighing and sometimes it’s cause I’m in a really good place emotionally and I am doing everything that I know works and sometimes it’s because I am in denial. Currently I am alittle denial so I am weighing in today. I know it won’t be pretty but I do feel that if I see it I know where to start from. It empowers me.

That’s wonderful, Roni! The number on a scale is only one indication of how well you are doing. You’ve incorporated all those other non-scale metrics into your daily life so well that the scale can take a back seat to the others. Congratulations on your continued success!

Roni! That is awesome! congrats. I only hope to be in your shoes in a couple of years…being realistic here!
So glad you were able to maintain it…and even be down some.
Thanks, as always for the inspiration.

Roni, I’m 15 pounds away from my goal (of 145, where you are now) and I often worry about going into maintenance mode. As much as I look forward to not being a slave to the scale anymore, I worry that I will let my good habits slide once I’m comfortable. Reading this gives me hope. Thanks for a great read and congratulations!!

Hey Roni,
Are you using OpenOffice? Calc is an excellent alternative for excel and it’s all wonderfully Open Source! I like to work cross-operating systems :)
Technical problems though problems can be fun to solve sometimes, eh?

I read your blog daily, but I don’t thank you nearly enough for all the work you do for this community. I have to say that this post is probably my favorite post yet!! Way to go! I know you hear it all the time- but you are an inspiration. And I have to say that this post is probably even more inspiring to me then the fact that you lost 70 pounds. I became LT in early 2000 after joining WW for the first time. I maintained for 2 1/2 years, but have been 5-15 pounds above my goal weight ever since late 2002 or so. I had started to get discouraged that even if I lose the weight again, I was doubting my ability to maintain the loss. Your post reminded me that while my “ideal” weight is an important goal for me, even more important in this journey is my goal to be able to accomplish what you have - to be able to maintain like this, free of constant WIs and trackin points, etc. For it to be a lifestyle, hard work yes, but manageable and to be able to trust myself and my choices. The fact that you have been able to stay right at 144 for all of 2008 (and then some) is amazing to me. I am so inspired and encouraged that it IS possible. Thanks for sharing!

AS for the office. I have neoOffice which I love but the charts are little messed up.
