For the 5k...eat lightly the night before. Drink plenty of water at night and some in the morning--but not too much since you don't want to get stomach cramps and you'll be able to grab some during the race.

Don't get discouraged by the tons of people running ahead of you and don't try to keep up with them--you'll hit the wall. You can tell yourself this millions of times beforehand and yet you'll try to do it anyway so be extra cautious.

And schedule a huge celebratory breakfast after the race!! My favorite is greasy chorizo with eggs, refried beans, and tortillas--which I only have once or twice a year. You'll burn it up with your post-race metabolism.

Great job on all fronts, Roni!

With the 5K side stitches, sometimes it helps to alternate your breathing. For example, if you take a breath every time your right foot hits the ground, inhale an extra step and then breath when the left foot hits the groun. Sometimes this is all it takes.

Hydrate well tomorrow, and don't carbo load too much. You'll have plenty of glyocgen in your muscles for the 5K without the huge pasta dinner in your tummy that'll just weigh you down.

And most importantly, have fun! My hubby ran his first 5K with me last weekend, and he just had a blast. Remember to eat up that finish line -- throw your hands up in the air and smile for the camera. You'll have earned it. :)

Wow Roni you keep adding to your plate...it must feel empowering. I'm sure the toddler enjoys his extra time with you as well. I wouldn't trade my time with my boys when they were that age for anything...now that they are 12 & 14 it's a different story....LOL...just joking!! :)

Do you take a multivitamin? Might be good idea with all the extra activity, I just started one... Do you have much potassium in you diet? A banana may help :) Have a good race!! Can't wait to see the cookbook, I already cook so many of your recipes. That's so great that you can make more memories with the toddler at home :)
