I had to try and imagine what I would look like thin. I had no thin pictures of my adult self! Now, 120 pounds lighter, I did not picture loose skin, and saggy thighs, but you know what? It is all right with me. I am healthy and very happy.

I used to visualize myself at a normal weight all the time. I'd fall asleep to images of me looking hot in a tank top and jeans running into an old boyfriend and watching him gawk. LOL I don't so much anymore because I found it caused me a lot of anxiety. I felt angry I wasn't there already and it would cause me to eat more! I do visualize myself in other ways though. I visualize myself feeling confident, eating when I am hungry and stopping when I am satiated. I also imagine myself being an intuitive eater. That kind of thing. I DEFINITELY think it helps me to feel that I can be a success. Great question as usual! I have to admit that I did create a virtual model of myself and post it on my blog :) It's nice to imagine the end product every once in a while!

Not until today have I felt such a connection to you. I have been reading your blog for about a year, now. July 27, 2005 I turned 29 and had a 9 day old baby. I was at 203lbs. At that time, I had not committed seriously to losing the "baby weight". I gained 70lbs. while pregnant and the thought of trying to lose it all was too much to handle.
Visualizing, with pictures of myself pre-baby and old clothes, kept me on track. I now weigh less than I did pre-baby. And made WW Lifetime Jan 3, 2008!!!! And I can fit into some of those pre-baby clothes.
Thanks for all of the inspiration!!

this is a great question! i've never really thought about it,but i think i used to visualize myself as some super sickly thin celebrity and that never worked (and in reality i'd never want to look like that anyway). when i finally lost the weight it was with no expectation of what i would look like, but just hoping to be healthier and slimmer. when dealing with post-partum weight loss, i just wanted to get back into my old clothes! i did the virtual model thing too, but i always wondered why the heavier weight didnt come with optional fat rolls, touching thighs, etc....i mean if we're being realistic :)

Definitely! Visulaization is the key and many times, it's what keeps me on track. Picturing myself in my bikini in Punta Cana has kept my hand out of the cookie jar on more than once occasion in the past few weeks. Same with goal outfits, I'll say no to that extra roll at dinner if I know I've got an occasion to wear that snug dress to.

Oh, I meant to mention, remember that popcorn and movie contest you had a few months ago (that I won, Yay!) I never heard anything more on that. Any news on your end?

Sometimes I don't think I visualize it stongly enough and that's what leads me to cave into temptation. I need to regain that view of myself at goal!

My "thinner" pictures from the past are way too old. I was a lot younger and that in itself is too depressing. Anyway, I am not doing this to be young again. I'm okay with my age, just want to be and feel healthy!
When I first set up my blog here I created a virtual model before and after....only, can't figure out how to get them on my blog page for easy reference. Oh well...Tammy
