It’s the sleep. Definitely the sleep. Or should I say lack of it.  This week I’ve been especially busy with the contest, a little stressed about my career choices and frankly, just going to bed waaay to late. I mean really TOO late.

When I’m tired I snack. I snack to stay awake, I snack without realizing it and I’m more likely to eat just for the taste of it. So I’m putting a stop to it. I’m taking the night off but first, my menu.  I promised myself I’d track and I did.

Have a good night!

I’ve recently come to that same conclusion about being tired and eating more. It’s comforting to know I’m not the only one! For some reason I feel guilty taking a nap or going to bed early when I have so many other things to yet, I know when I’m tired I won’t accomplish anything anyway except eat. I hope recognizing the problem is a step towards solving it, although I know it will take time.

That’s ok, sleep is for those with too much time on their hands. 12+ hour days are my friend this week.

I am with you. i do the same exact thing. I just wish there were 8 more hours in a day to make sure I could get enough.

I am exactly the same way, when I don’t sleep enough, I snack like crazy!! Hope you get a better night’s sleep

I knew my early bed time paid off! If I don’t get atleast 9 hours of sleep, you don’t want to even know me!

You know, i’ve been totally snacky lately too…and now that you mention it, I’ve been crazy tired and busy…maybe that is the problem. Your so smart!

I always eat too much when I’m tired too. Must be a comfort thing. But, you know, when you’re working as much as you are and as busy as you are, something’s gotta give. The good thing is that you recognize what’s going on and aren’t beating yourself up about it. ‘Cause you rock, sista! Now go take a nap. =)

I am a nurse and occasionally work nights and then don’t get much sleep (3 hrs) the next day. And on those days… look out! I am constantly looking for something to give me energy. It is so true. I will eat to try to combat fatigue.

Same thing happens to me…when I’m tired I tend to snack more, but here’s the secret…it’s not just because we’re bored or like to eat;).
Our bodies are very, very wise. The body knows that carbs/sugars equal instant energy so when the body is fatigued and it can’t get the rest it needs it turns to option number two…FUEL! Afterall, if it can’t rest then it needs to figure out a way to keep going. Ever notice how when you are tired and snacky you tend to reach for something with carbs or sugar? That’s because carbs are the bodies preferred source of energy so that’s where it will turn first. Our bodies are so cool…usually when we are having cravings or feeling snacky, it is our bodies way of sending us a message…in this case, that message is, “Roni, we need more rest”!
Remember, food is only one avenue that contributes to good health…rest and stress management are MAJOR factors as well!!!
I’m happy to hear that you took the night off…rest up Roni:)!
