The Hardest Part is Getting Out the Door.

Date February 13, 2008

It’s the middle of the semester and I still haven’t found my groove yet. I feel like my schedule is held together by paper clips and scotch tape. Literally, I’m flying by the seat of my pants. Tonight after dinner (the only time I had to hit the gym) I barely had enough energy to clean up the kitchen let alone go workout. I wanted to go but I didn’t want to leave, if that makes any sense!

Well I’m happy to report I did it! I put on the sweats, waited until just before toddler bed time and then it was off to the gym, book in hand and ready for ‘me’ time. I’m so glad I went, I feel great! The hardest part was really just getting out the door. Once you set yourself in motion it’s easy to let momentum take over. I mean, if you make it to the car there is no turning back, right? :~P

So it’s mid week and I’m feeling really good.  I didn’t make it to weigh in tonight, it was that OR the gym and I went with the gym. I think it was the right choice. I’ll try to get to another meeting this weekend.

Other News…

  • I almost made it through the AWESOME comments on this weeks question about Artificial Sweeteners. The input and opinions we all share is just GREAT! I just can’t keep up! Don’t worry I always catch up on the weekends.  That’s when I’ll get to everyone’s emails as well.
  • I posted 2 new recipe ideas on GreenLiteBites. Yesterday it was Simple Savory Stuffed Sweet Potatoes and tonight I was in a burger mood making, Southwestern Turkey Burgers.  Tomorrow I’m planning to do a video demonstrating the Meat Storage – Frozen Flat trick I use. I’m also taking requests so just let me know if there is something you want me to demo.
  • I haven’t reached any of my 2008 goals YET but I practiced on the wall tonight and I think I’m getting closer!

Ok, I need sleep.  Tomorrow is my early day.

  1. You just need to invent a way to add a couple more hours to the day, that’s all!

  2. I agree with Kathy… If you coudl do that, you’d be rich!

  3. Roni, I bring my gym clothes to work and by 3 pm I have every excuse in the book not to stop at the gym on the way home. Then I tell myself, Too Bad, You’re Going. And everytime I do, I am glad I did. I know its hard but as you found out, you feel better when you go. Thanks for your blog, I love it.

  4. That’s always my biggest struggle, to overcome getting to the gym, once I’m there, and I’ve worked out, I feel wonderful, it’s just the getting there!

  5. Way to go Roni!!

How is dance class going? We have our third class tonight. Its fun. Hopefully we can to the point of not needing to count outloud with every step. :)

  6. The gym was definitely the right choice! I probably would have gone to bed. :)

  7. Impressivo.

I’m much more used to reading about excuses people *didn’t* go to the gym. It’s refreshing to see the opposite.

  8. Good gym choice. I argue with myself on occasion about not exercising or exercising and I always feel better if I choose the latter. My exercise time is usually in the morning and my motto is just put your feet on the floor and the rest will follow. I’ll check out your new recipes, they both sound delicious. Also, the goals part will happen. I hope you give yourself an NSV reward when you climb that darn wall. Happy V Day.

  9. Congratulations on making it out the door to work out. I know what you mean, that is the hardest part for me too!

  10. Good for you for getting out the door. Back in the days I worked outside the home it was so much easier to get to the gym. After work, I wouldn’t let myself go home until I’d hit the gym. Now I’m already home!

    Way to beat the inertia.

  11. Don’t feel bad Roni. I have a treadmill, a universal gym, and a whole room dedicated to exercise and I still can’t get myself to go down there as much as I should.

My husband was even nice enough to get the the FIRM DVD and weight system for Valentine’s Day – don’t worry I authorized this purchase beforehand.

Good Luck Roni and I am inspired daily by your thoughts and advice.

    Happy Valentine’s Day!!

  14. That is awesome that you made the decision to go work out…as much as you didn’t want to go it made you feel a lot better…and you can feel good about yourself to start the next morning! :)

    Happy Valentine’s Day!!

  15. I totally agree. Sometimes the hardest part is getting out the door. Once you’ve finished your workout, you feel great. Whenever I feel like I don’t have time to workout, I try to remember that feeling of greatness, and off I go………:)
