My New Buddy
January 23, 2008
The other day I hit Bed Bath & Beyond. Man I love that store!
They were having a big sale and as soon as I walked in I was immediately attracted to a large bin with these water cooler looking water bottles in it. They were huge! (74oz) With a great handle and a large sports bottle top. I bought 2 they were just so COOL!
Now I have them in rotation. One’s in freezer filled half with water getting ready for tomorrow. In the morning, I’ll pull that one out, top it off and replace it with the other one.
Right now, I’m finishing off my 74oz. I lugged it to work, got made fun of, drank from it all day, lugged it back home, shared it with the toddler in the car (he thinks it’s great!), had it at dinner, it’s like My Buddy. You know, where ever I go, he goes…
Now that I successfully got that stuck in your head for the rest of the day I’ll move on (mission accomplished) :~P
The last two days have been great. I think the water is helping, immensely. Plus I’m working my butt of at work preparing for classes that start Monday. The next week or two is going to be crazy! On top of it all, the toddler isn’t feeling well. We have to go to the doctors tomorrow afternoon so that kills my cardio kickboxing class. :~( I’m going to try my hardest to get the gym before work so I can fit it in. We’ll see. I’m just too tired to even try and plan the day tomorrow.
I’m also racking my brain for a new weekly video post idea. I think all this class prep is sucking me dry. So if there is anything you can think of, I’m all ears!

Hhahahaha. I LOVED that commercial when I was young and totally had a Kid Sister. Thank god for You Tube to help us re-live the 80’s.

Watch drinking from plastic…..could be harmful to your health. ( Some researchers are worried that heavy-duty plastic that contains the chemical BPA may be harmful to our health)

I would love some ideas for storing vegetables that I cut early in the week in my fridge. Also, do you store them in tupperware or ziplock bags? Great job and workout before work- you’ll feel great! I’m right there with you..so far I’ve done three days on track and had water and worked out!! The scale hasn’t budged yet but it’s also TOM. Good luck!!

I’d love to see you make those spaghetti squash cakes. I’ve mastered the preparation of the squash, I just felt like my cakes came out burned and bland (in the picture yours looked pretty and tasty). Just a thought, maybe that’s too much for one video!

I have one of those water jugs from BB&B, too. My only issue was it started to get a bit on the stinky side and dishwasher washing wasn’t cleaning out that handle part. Hand washing them is probably best, and often :)

We have 3 of the big ones and I have 1 of the little ones (32oz) and love them but my only issue is that they start to leak after a while. I have no idea what I am doing to them but I’ve had 2 leak on me so far and both in the same place. Always at the bottom and I find out while drinking and ending up wet. Just keep an eye out.
Other than that, just an FYI for BBB, they take expired coupons so save them when you get then and you can save 20% of things all the time ;). Glad that you found a way to get in more water.
Oh, and I purposely didn’t watch the video but the song is stuff anyway :P thanks.

I had to smile because my husband’s “My Buddy” is going to be a big jug, too. It’s full of a yucky substance for him to drink this afternoon to prepare for a colonoscopy tomorrow morning! :-(
I am becoming a regular reader of your blog. It is giving me motivation to start over on WW “one more time” at age 48. I’m amazed at the amout of energy you put in to maintaining not only your weight, but your family AND this blog!

We don’t have a BBB here, but we do have a Linens & Things. I’ll have to check there to see if they have any of those bottles. It’s just so much easier to get all your water in with those big jugs to carry around. The ones I have right now are 32 oz, but I’d love to get some bigger ones.

Roni,
Not that this should be your next video or anything, but can you talk about cellulite?

You can always do a video about your Chocolate Cookie Bites…or you could do a video that shows unhealthy food choices and how to replace them with healthy ones.

Oh no! Not the My Buddy!
My buddy and me like to climb up a tree, my buddy and me are the best friends we could be.
Those marketers were genius. I will NEVER forget that song.

Roni,
I’m all about watching you cook like a sauteed vegetable dish.
And one question, I have lost almost 60 lbs. Everyone is telling me to stop that I look fine, but when I look in the mirror I see more fat that I want to get rid of….does this ever stop? Did you feel you were happy where you were when you hit your goal weight? or do you still see things here and there?
Thank you so much fo your inspiration!

I just saw these this morning. But when I picked two different ones up, the inside of the handle was sharp where the seam in the plastic was so I passed.

Roni: I’m going to head to Bed, Bath & Beyond this weekend. It’s a 100 mile journey for me so I’ll be spending some time in there you can bet. I will look for and probably purchase a water bottle. Thanks for the tip. I love your video posts, especially with the toddler, so I’m sure whatever you come up with we will all love. And, if you are feeling overwhelmed with school, it can always wait.

I got the same container for water and heard that people say the plastic can be bad.
Those same people must assume that water falls from the sky totally clean and lands directly in my mouth - otherwise it has to get from there to here.
Lead pipes, cracked valves, dirty filters and finally in my plastic jug. Heck, I put in a drop of vodka and figure that all is even.
Breath in. Breath out. Move on
