Dancing with ‘the husband’ was…
January 8, 2008

…AWESOME!
The class was great, the instructor was great and the other 4 couples were great! And thank god they were, they make you swap partners! It was a little awkward at first but everyone was so friendly we got comfortable pretty fast.
We covered the basic steps of swing, the foxtrot and the waltz and we have homework! LOL
It wasn’t the most intense workout but it got you moving. We pretty much moved non-stop for an hour. I’d equate it to a nice leisurely hour long walk. Hey, it’s activity, it fun and it’s WAY better then sitting in front of the TV!
We were the first couple there and the expression on the other couples faces as they walked in were priceless. All the ‘husbands’ looked terrified! Once we got moving and everyone realized no one was going to laugh at them the mood lightened. The funny thing for us was dancing with all the mirrors around. Normally the husband and I dance in the living room with the toddler but we don’t have to see ourselves! That took a little getting used to.
So all in all it was great! And so was he. I’m so proud of the husband for doing this with me (although, don’t let him fool you, he actually wanted to go, even though he won’t admit that to his friends) it’s things like this that keep us moving in a fun way. And it’s the fun activity you don’t mind doing!

My wife & I did ballroom dancing a couple years ago. We had a blast as well. We’d love to get back into it…maybe once I become independently wealthy, eh? ;-) We liked the Swing (and West Coast Swing), and the Viennese Waltz the best! Keep it up!

Sounds great! The best kind of exercise is the kind where you don’t even realize you are exercising! Keep up the good work.

Dance lessons are on my list of things for hubby and I to do. But I was actually thinking of going for square dancing. Come on, how can you say no to those adorable square dancing outfits! Or that’s what I thought, but the hubby did in fact say no!

Roni,
Been keeping tabs on your site for sometime but just wanted you to know that I have started a video log of my weigh ins. It was inspired by Scott Townsend over at Cre8Buzz.com. In my second episode I give your site a plug (it’s been on my blogroll for a while already). Cheers!

Roni,
How cool! I’ve always wanted to take/drag my husband to dancing classes. I have two left feet, but I thought it might be fun and a good way to spend time with my hubbie. I’ve heard that country line dancing can be a really good workout because it involves a lot of lifting and stuff of that nature. It’s definitely good to find a break from the normal exercise routine.
Thanks for sharing!

Am I the only one who thinks the swapping partners thing sounds kinky?
I wish I could talk my husband into dance lessons. We WILL do it someday.

Hi Roni. I was just wondering what brand of granola bar you have found that is only one point? I would love to know! Thanks!

I’m jealous. It would be fun to try that just once. It would be tough dragging my husband’s dead body around the floor, though.
Added you to my blogroll.

Roni – You’re probably aware of this site, but I discovered it after an E show this weekend and just think it is AMAZING. http://www.sparkpeople.com and http://www.sparkrecipes.com It gives you a recommended daily calorie intake and you can track your food (it has a HUGE database) and fitness. There is also a second site http://www.sparkrecipes.com where you can enter your recipe ingredients and serving size and get nutritional information. If you haven’t already, you should definitely check it out!

Dancing is so much fun. Hubbie and I took dance lessons before we were married and they were a blast. I miss it. Here in the summer, there are Free Outdoor Big Band Dances in the park. We’ve only gone once, but it was fun.

Thanks guys!
1.) typo on the granola bar – It’s 2 Sorry!
2.) Yes I think swamping partners is hinky! But it was still fun. Not a deal breaker for me.
3.) You are CRAZY, I can’t believe you bought the smidgens!
