Ever Just Have a Great Day?
November 9, 2007
I like to recognize great days when I have them. Yesterday was, just… well…. GREAT! And I don’t mean great just on the diet, weight loss maintenance front.
Let’s start with a decision yesterday morning. If you remember, back in August I was debating having a little more “work” done. Well I have made a decision not to proceed with the surgery right now and to spend the money on something more, ummmm, empowering, no… wait….. rewarding? I can’t find the word I’m looking for. Anyway I decided to take the money and invest it in myself a different way. I’m going to start my own business!
Now before you get too excited (now I’m making assumptions that you are excited for me) I don’t mean I’m going to quit my job, and go all crazy entrepreneurial. But I am contacting a lawyer, taking the proper steps and making it official. I’ll fill you in on more details as they unfold. The fact that I made this decision just made me feel, well, for lack of a better term, GREAT!
After the decision-making, I had lunch with the husband. We had a bit of a tiff earlier in the morning and I love when we both make the effort to compromise. It was an awesome lunch for both the food (see below) and the conversation. Of course the conversation centered around this new business decision. Which was fun and exciting! The husband is totally behind the new business idea.
Lunch ended with a bit if shopping for the toddler and then back to work. On the work front, I was able to get something off my chest that’s been bothering me for sometime. You know that feeling where you are holding back a secret or a feeling and when you finally get it out the weight of the world is listed off your shoulders. Well, that happened to me yesterday too. I had a conversation with my boss that just made me feel, you guessed it, GREAT! ;~)
Then dinner, I re-made a old recipe I lost in the big crash and it came out delish! The toddler loved it and I now have more lunch options then just Vegetarian Chili over Spaghetti Squash next week.
After dinner, it was off to the gym! I’ve actually missed it the last few days. My schedule has been CRAZY. If you noticed, I haven’t even made a weigh in meeting for weeks and I don’t think I will be able to make it this week either. Just crazy! But I digress, back to the gym. I FINALLY made the cardio kick boxing class I’ve wanted to try. I’ve never done classes and I was super nervous for some reason. What if I can’t keep up? How will I know the moves? Things like that. Well I kept up and I messed up the moves but boy was it fun and a half hour of cardio FLEW by! It was awesome and instructor kicked my BUTT. I think I need to try more classes.
So that was it, my awesome day! Oh and I even won a battle against the spammers on the Community front. Man I got a lot accomplished!
Today promises to be even “awesome-er” because we are having a family outing in the city. I love family outings! The husband took off work and we are taking the toddler out for a day of fun.
Sorry, to be so long winded but now I feel even better that I got all the out! *typing with smile on face* for some reason I just want to say the line…. “I love it when a plan comes together”. LOL ok, I’m getting cheesy. Until later.
| Morning Scale Reading: Forgot to hop on - this is yesterday remember, today I hopped on for 145! DANG IT my great day apparently ended with water weight. ;~) | |

I’m assuming you couldn’t make the wall because you tried it after the cardio kick class! The first time I did a powerflex class, my whole body turned into a noodle and i couldn’t move for 2 days afterwards!
Congrats on the decision to start your own business. I can’t wait to find out what it is!

Roni - Congratulations on a great day! It really picked me up as my husband has been away, kids have been sick and it has been raining here…so you really lifted my spirits and made me ready to start today on a more positive way!
I think it is awesome that you are moving forward with your goals! I am 37 and have three kids…I am going after mine…it is very empowering…very…go for it. If it has anything to do with cookbooks and eating healthy…I am a customer for life for sure! (no pressure!)
Way to go Roni and your recipies are perfect…I am using them and sharing them with all my friends…you have a gift…let that gift take you places!
Have a fantastic day out!

“Now before you get too excited…” TOO LATE! I am excited! Glad you had a great day, but I had the sense that it didn’t just happen. You made it great, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about this business thing. Woohoo!

Congratulations! That is an exciting decision. Will your business be web developing or weight loss related? Either way - yahoo! and good luck. I am taking a Dreamweaver class this semester as part of my M.Ed degree and I have a new appreciation for the work you do and the work involved in keeping up the site. Thanks!

Hey Roni-
I know you love black bean dip, here’s a great recipe to try!
# 1 clove garlic
# 1 (15 ounce) can black beans; drain and reserve liquid
# 2 tablespoons lemon juice
# 1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
# 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
# 1/2 teaspoon salt
# 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
# 1/4 teaspoon paprika
Mince garlic in the bowl of a food processor. Add black beans, 2 tablespoons reserved liquid, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, tahini, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper; process until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed. Add additional seasoning and liquid to taste. Garnish with paprika. (from allrecipes.com “Black Bean Hummus”)
I bet you could even leave out the tahini for lower points!
