Ok, I just have to tell you I've followed you for months and this is the first time commenting. Good for you on the gym. I used to have a membership but finding the time working full time and two busy kids, I spent more than I used it. I have a 10 yo treadmill in the basement but it got boring quickly. So I broke down and bought a Elliptical. I love it. Unfortunately it is in my family room still and needs to hit the basement but having it in the living room my 12 yo and almost 11 yo jump on it as well. Talk about building healthy habits. I had my first wi tonight since using it religiously since last wed and I too was up. Only .2 but still. The leader said the same as these folks have about patience while the body adjusts so let's hope so. Good luck.

Just so you know, I saw that you said you have gained a little. Don't be too worried. It is probably because you have started exercising more regularly. When you gain muscle it weighs more than fat. So the scale goes up, but no big deal because you will feel better and be more toned. Also eventualy it evens out and you are able to lose weight agin, it is just usually at first for the first three weeks or so when you add exersice.

Roni

When you first start working out you will gain weight, BUT it will drop! You're starting to build muscle which holds water temp.
This happened to me, and sure enough I had a big weight drop several weeks later. Just hang in there.

Okay... remember, muscle weighs more than fat... so now that you are working out, you are building muscle mass and you may gain a few extra pounds Keep working out and drinking water and it will level out and you will probably loose past your lowest.

Amy

I aggree with the others about the muscle and initial water retention. You're doing a great job! Maybe talk to a trainer at the gym and have him take your measurements and do a fat analysis. This way you can ignore the scale and go based on that since you WILL start noticing a physical difference from being so committed. You are doing a great job!!!

Roni.. your going to gain weight when you start working out!!! Give it a few months to level out. Its one reason they recommend not working out when you first start a new "diet" or "lifestyle". Relax!!!

Also if you are weighing after you workout... DONT!! You will retain water after you workout, its normal.

Roni, you gotta keep in mind that when you begin a new workout routine your body ALWAYS retains fluids at first. It's your muscles repairing themselves and making themselves stronger. Just drink more water and I PROMISE it will go away.

Roni, you'll be fine. You have had a lot going on that has taken you out of your routine. Cut yourself a break, get back on track and all will be fine...Heck, that is what you would tell me, and you would be right

I hate it when blogger acts up! You have done a great job maintaining so I am confident you will get there. Maybe doing the exercising is throwing things off...could you be eating more because you are hungrier with exercising? Just a thought. Good luck getting back on track...I know you can do it!
Mel
