This is going to be super quick. I’m not even sure if you will be able to read it! I’ve been having problems with blogger now. It’s like the blog gods just don’t want to have me posting! First, I lose my whole site when the database crashed and now blogger just doesn’t want to publish my blog fully. I think I will be changing back to WordPress soon, which mean more work for me and possible a little down time, although I will try my hardest for that not to happen. More on that later in the week, I have to plan it out a bit.

I did weigh in and I AM GOING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION! Sorry I didn’t mean to yell I’m just a little frustrated at myself. I know it’s not the end of the world. I know I didn’t gain 70lbs back. I know I’m not overweight. I just would feel a lot better if I could get back into my maintenance range. I know I can do it and I will. I just needed to vent a little.

I DID workout out today and I feel FABULOUS! I created my workout progress page in celebration of my first week as a “gym rat”. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Ok, like I said, cutting this short, Blogger is acting up so I hope this gets posted. I will be back tomorrow to update my weight progress page and fill you in more on my weekend. I’m going out tonight with the husband! Babysitter is on her way!

    hi roni!

i am a 22 year old girl in hollywood, ca. first of all i want to congratulate you on your success! you seriously look AMAZING!!! you could give some of these hollywood celebs a run for their money! ;)

also, you have a beautiful little boy. kudos to you for changing your life in order to make his the best possible! i see way too many parents passing terrible nutritional and lifestyle habits to their children, leaving them with physical and emotional setbacks. it makes me SO UPSET when i see that… i am really proud of you for doing something very difficult for your son’s best interests!

i read your story at msn.com “success stories” page. i saw that some of your trigger foods are pizza, pasta, and stromboli… yum! anyway i wanted to stop by and give you a few ideas for alternative foods that help satisfy that craving.

first on my list: pita pizzas! top a wheat pita bread with pizza sauce and your favorite pizza veggies! go easy on the meats, and if you must use cheese, use the very least harmful you can get. bake them in the oven, directly on the middle rack, at about 400 until the pita is crispy and the veggies are cooked. depending on which vegetables you use, you may have to pre-cook them a little bit; depending on the pita bread, you may have to bake it a tiny biy to harden it first, but it’s not likely. if the pita will be in the oven for a while, cooking spray may be necessary on the bottom. best of all, you can have fun making these with your son! kids love making these.

secondly, i highly recommend making a dish similar to pasta but using brown lentils or cooked veggies instead of pasta! you can use pasta sauce or pizza sauce and add all the vegetables you want! one of the simplest versions is without sauce at all: just brown lentils with diced canned tomatoes, a bit of red wine and a few spices. it’s a delicious, satisfying, healthy meal!

lastly, i highly recommend roasted vegetable wraps. roast whichever vegetables you like. i recommend onions, tomatoes, and red bell peppers… but be creative! add butternut squash, mushrooms, sweet potato, asparagus, fennel, artichoke… be sure you add the softer veggies (tomatoes, mushrooms) later. eggplants do not work well for this. anyway, sprinkle vegetables with olive oil, lemon/lime/vinegar, and spices; spread them out as much as possible on a baking sheet or roasting pan, making sure to add the tomatoes later, and bake at 400-425 until they’re ready! wrap them in tortillas and they’re especially good with salt & vinegar baked chips, if you can spare the calories!

i hope you enjoy these ideas to satisfy those cravings when they come. also, don’t worry about your recent slip-ups… just think about how it feels to know that your body is clean and your future is bright!

I hate it when blogger acts up! You have done a great job maintaining so I am confident you will get there. Maybe doing the exercising is throwing things off…could you be eating more because you are hungrier with exercising? Just a thought. Good luck getting back on track…I know you can do it!

Roni, you’ll be fine. You have had a lot going on that has taken you out of your routine. Cut yourself a break, get back on track and all will be fine…Heck, that is what you would tell me, and you would be right

Roni, you gotta keep in mind that when you begin a new workout routine your body ALWAYS retains fluids at first. It’s your muscles repairing themselves and making themselves stronger. Just drink more water and I PROMISE it will go away.

Roni.. your going to gain weight when you start working out!!! Give it a few months to level out. Its one reason they recommend not working out when you first start a new “diet” or “lifestyle”. Relax!!!

Also if you are weighing after you workout… DONT!! You will retain water after you workout, its normal.

It’s muscle weight and water weight. Keep working out and it will disappear.

I aggree with the others about the muscle and initial water retention. You’re doing a great job! Maybe talk to a trainer at the gym and have him take your measurements and do a fat analysis. This way you can ignore the scale and go based on that since you WILL start noticing a physical difference from being so committed. You are doing a great job!!!

  8. buggirlmom says:

Okay… remember, muscle weighs more than fat… so now that you are working out, you are building muscle mass and you may gain a few extra pounds Keep working out and drinking water and it will level out and you will probably loose past your lowest.

When you first start working out you will gain weight, BUT it will drop! You’re starting to build muscle which holds water temp.
This happened to me, and sure enough I had a big weight drop several weeks later. Just hang in there.

Just so you know, I saw that you said you have gained a little. Don’t be too worried. It is probably because you have started exercising more regularly. When you gain muscle it weighs more than fat. So the scale goes up, but no big deal because you will feel better and be more toned. Also eventualy it evens out and you are able to lose weight agin, it is just usually at first for the first three weeks or so when you add exersice.

Ok, I just have to tell you I’ve followed you for months and this is the first time commenting. Good for you on the gym. I used to have a membership but finding the time working full time and two busy kids, I spent more than I used it. I have a 10 yo treadmill in the basement but it got boring quickly. So I broke down and bought a Elliptical. I love it. Unfortunately it is in my family room still and needs to hit the basement but having it in the living room my 12 yo and almost 11 yo jump on it as well. Talk about building healthy habits. I had my first wi tonight since using it religiously since last wed and I too was up. Only .2 but still. The leader said the same as these folks have about patience while the body adjusts so let’s hope so. Good luck.
