Way to go on climbing the wall! I have tried it before and as a chubby girl, I know exactly what you mean. I'm sure you looked awesome and put the 13 year olds to shame!

Thanks so much for the comments guys!

Just remember I'm not really trying to lose, I'm maintaining. I will always go back to counting if the scale creeps up again. I really want to see if I can get back into my range without counting. It's all about challenging myself and I'm always up for a challenge!

I've learned a lot about myself and how to eat, I just want to put it in practice. Sort of like a final exam.

Roni,

Just my thoughts about not counting points: We have a food addiction. This has to be watched and maintained on a daily basis. The sooner I accepted this fact, the more at peace I was with my self. I do not weigh, however. You, as well as I, know that when you follow the program, the weight will come off. I have no use belaboring it on a daily basis--up 1, down .5. All you are is fixated on the scale. Keep up the good work and inspiration!

Just a quick comment on the not counting points... a few months ago (after I'd been at my goal weight for a while) I decided, like you, to stop counting. I knew I was eating healthy, within my points range & had basically memorized the point values of everything. Here's the thing, slowly but surely I started to add little bits of "unhealthy" things into my diet. Maybe a piece of cheese on my normally cheese free sandwich, a few pieces of candy, 2 slices of bacon instead of one... you get the picture. It all added up, three months later I gained back 10 pounds! Yikes!! It wasn't as if I went crazy and started eating fast food everyday or anything remotely like that... I just stopped counting. Point being, I am now back to counting and losing & I don't think I'll stop counting again... it made it all too easy to loose track of an appropriate balance of food. I am not trying to dissuade you from not counting; I only want to warn you of my own experience so that you don't have a similar one.
FYI - I obviously wasn't weighing myself or paying enough attention to my tightening waist band... knowing you, a "daily weigher" :) you'll catch yourself if things go awry! Best of luck Roni - thanks for your fantastic blog!

Of course I will!! I'm just not going to do the daily chart. I'll still list what I ate and i will still do the nutritional estimates on recipes. No worries!

That's fricken awesome.
I love the fact that you were able to recognize that you were making the same excuse but using your age instead of weight. That's a pretty big accomplishment to be able to recognize that in the MOMENT and not just in retrospect later. Way to go!
That's awesome that you got such a great feeling out of it!!

PS I'm running a poll on my blog to choose Starbucks clothes so come on over and help me choose!
http://letsseewhathappens1.blogspot.com

Hi Roni - when I read that you weren't counting pts I thought, "OH NO!" I joined WW the day you were profiled on msn and have been using your site daily for inspiration and ideas. 3 months later I think I have pts counting down and will use my WW online tracker as usual, but if I could make a small request - any chance you could still provide NI or guestimate pts for your recipes???

I think this is the absolute best feeling in the world. When I was in college and pretty overweight, I worked at a summer camp. There was a climbing wall there. On one of the first days, we had to climb the wall attached to a partner as a teambuilding exercise for the counselors. I could climb about 6 feet and had to get down. It was humiliating! All summer long, I really watched what I ate, ran during rest hour and got in much better shape. About 7 weeks later, I had become pretty good friends with the climbing wall instructor. He encouraged me to try again. I did and whizzed right to the top. I will remember this feeling FOREVER!!! There are so many climbing gyms around...I keep think that will be my true test..when I'm comfortable to go back to a climbing wall and try to go to the top!

Good luck with the no counting points. It really seems like you have things pretty well under control and will be able to do it this way! And you're right, you can always go back!

Way to go climbing that rock wall. I have always been interested in doing it, but haven't ever taken the opportunity. Good luck with the no counting points. I think you eat so well that it won't be a problem for you. I didn't count points over the summer and didn't do too bad although I still often found myself counting the points. I am back to counting strong this past week though with the start of school and was happy to see a loss on the scale. I still need to lose a bunch though so it is different. I'll be looking for your food journal though so I can keep copying recipes!
Mel
