I've never called myself a gym rat, but I guess I am. I try for 6 days a week, and usually get it in, but it took a while to get the motivation (mostly the 5:10 alarm call got to me). Just stick it out for at least 2 weeks. I'm told that's how long it takes your body to get used to a routine like this. Also, if you're looking for a good workout book, check out Gunnar Peterson's book. G-Force is the hardcover name, I've seen it in the bargain section at Barnes & Noble, and The Workout is the paperback name. He gives you workout plans if you have 2, 3, 4, or 5 days to workout. My legs hurt for two days afterwards, but its a good workout, a lot of variations possible.

Roni,<br/>I've been a "workout fanatic" for a long time, and I'll tell you it's the best feeling ever. Some people do it to lose weight, but we need to remember that we're going for our HEALTH. And especially since you're maintaining (and me), it's sooo important to work out. What you need to do is just GET yourself there and get into a routine. The best thing for me is to workout first thing in the morning, and then it's done for the day! If you cant do that, I would recommend taking your clothes with you and going right after work! It's too tempting to come home, hang out for awhile, and then not want to go....so start off by committing to 3x a week and see what happens. You can do it! It's SUCH a stress reliever for me!!!

I just joined our Y for my first 1/2 marathon training and I LOVE IT! The equipment is the best out there and the staff is AWESOME! I really reccommend it. Once you pay for it each month, it'll MAKE you go! :-)

Roni, DO IT! I joined the Arena Club and LOVE it! I too drag myself in on most days but end up feeling SO good afterwards. To be honest, I actually schedule it into my day. I make a commitment to go 2 times during the week and 1 time on the weekend and try to walk on the other days. That way you won't feel like you have to go every single day and when it is on your calendar, you will go! On the days I go to the gym, I always make sure I do the weights (because I cannot do those at home) and I feel so strong! GO FOR IT! And the best part, for those of us who are mommmies, is some time to ourselves! :)

The best thing for me has been beachbody.com--I hate the gym but love workout videos! I love running outside and doing Slim in 6 (from Beachbody.com) or Turbo Jam (also from Beachbody.com). Slim in 6 is a 6 week program that gets you started. For the first week and a half or so, you do the 25 minute video, then move on to the next video at 48 minutes and when you're ready, you finish up with their 60 minute video. It's circuit training with simple movements and I love it. So many of my friends have done Slim in 6 and look awesome. When I started, I hadn't done anything but cardio, but now my muscles are finally showing because of the resistance training in Slim in 6. I think the main reason I am able to do it is because I just go to my living room when I feel like it and get it done. Plus, you get a membership to wowy (working out with you)--an online community of people who plan to sign on and workout at the same time.

I excercised way more when my gym had a FitLinx, mostly because they kept track of how many points everyone earned (they calculate based on intensity, duration ,etc) and I HAD TO WIN with the most points! Don't sign a contract, stay clear of ballys, or golds gyms. It helps when they offer the daycare. Your baby might really enjoy the interaction. That's what kept me going to mine, he would cry when we would leave which made me feel guilty! Good luck with "it" :)

I heard about your blog from someone at WW. I think we must live near each other. The new YMCA is supposed to be great. My hubby's best friend's dad is running the place and he has great plans. My aunt and her family just joined and loved it. I now belong to the Arena Club- but it is far and I would rather my money go towards something more comunity based. It is also on my way home from my daugther's daycare when school starts back up. (I am a teacher) So I am really thinking about it too.

I think you and I do not live far from each other. I just found your blog because someone at WW mentioned your blog. I was thinking about joining that YMCA. Right now I am a t eh Area Club but I would rather my money go towards the YMCA than a gym. plus the YMCA is on my way home from my daughter's day care when school starts (I am a teacher) My hubby's best friend's Dad is running the place and he is a great guy with great ideas so in the next year there will be some great things. There are also thing for your toddler to do. That's my two cents.
