Back from the Beach and Bloated

Date July 22, 2007

Roni on beachSorry I left so abruptly. It was a crazy weekend getting ready for the beach. This was the first year we rented our own house so packing was a chore!

We had a BLAST! Here’s one of the few shots of me and the toddler on the beach. I’m the family photographer so pictures of me are pretty rare unless I hand the camera to the husband and say "take a picture of THIS".

I have to admit, I look pretty slender. I actually sat pretty comfortably on the beach in a bikini. That’s right… a BIKINI. Mid drift an all exposed. I’m far from perfect but confidence is a wonderful thing. The funny thing is I already feel like I gained 25lbs. I know I’m exaggerating but a week of pizza, cheese steaks, french fries and ice cream can do that to you.

I can’t wait to get back to my normal eating habits and routine. Looking back at the week there are a few pros and cons.

Cons

  • I splurged a bit too much
  • Could have made better food choices
  • I ate just because food was there, not because I was hungry
  • If I eat another slice of pizza I’ll turn into one, I swear!

Pros

  • I walked about a bazillion miles, even going for an hour long walk on the beach
  • I could have eaten MUCH WORSE and MUCH MORE
  • I kept my breakfasts healthy… yogurt, high fiber cereal, etc.
  • I feel like I got the bad eating out of my system for awhile - I just feel crappy

Tomorrow I’m all about routine. I WILL weigh in at home even though I don’t want to face it and I WILL post my menu tomorrow night. I had fun but MAN, it’s great to be back!

oh! and I missed you guys! I really did! ;~)

  1. Glad you had fun Roni!

  2. Welcome back!! We definitely misses you!! Out of habit, I kept checking your blog since I typically read it every night before bed. I have to tell you, I was starting to really resent the tomato/zucchini picture!! LOL I’m glad you had a great time & it’s good to see that even you take complete breaks from counting once in a while. I’m sure you’ll bounce back just fine!

  3. Glad you’re back. I hope that you enjoyed the extra family time.

  5. lol like jynell said, I automatically clicked your link about 8 times this week…wanna know the recipe for tomato and zucchini ppl? I have it imprinted in my head forever;) lol glad you’re back and had a good time!

  6. Glad you had a good time. That beach looks awesome.

  7. We missed you too… and glad you had such a great vacation with your family. I know weight mgmt is the focus of this site but there is more to life and IMO you had a fabulous vacation and certainly did reasonably well with your exercise and food for a special occasion. And kudos to you for taking an objective look at it and just “knowing thyself” as much as you do. That is the key to success in so many things, isn’t it?
You do look great in your pic and I look forward to pics like that of ME next year! ;)
PS your son is so BIG!

  8. Glad you had a Blast Roni ~ Thanks for updating us ~ I was wondering with your dedication if you would count points or not. Boy do we all know about eating when not hungry, just because it’s tempting us. It’s great to know someone else has the same issues. Again Welcome back, we definately missed you.

  9. WELCOME back!!! I am glad you had a blast!

  13. Welcome back! Glad you had a great trip and got all the junky food out of your system for a while! :D

You look so amazing…where’s the pic of you in your bikini?! lol

  14. You’re doing well. Vacation isn’t always the easiest to stay on plan - and good for you for wearing a bikini!!

  15. wow a bikini!! Damn I am jealous!! LOL… yes i too was sick of looking at that tommato/zucchini recipe too!! I don’t even like tomoato’s or zucchini so you know it was torture for me…LOL but I checked it first thing and last thing EVERYDAY! Glad you had fun at the beach, we all need time away.

  16. One of the best things about splurging while on vacation is that when you come home, you have made a huge change already…this makes it so much easier to break a bad cycle, if you ask me!

I, too, realized how much I check this website when I saw the Z and T casserole….

    Thanks for coming home!

By the way, you look fantastic on that picture on the beach, so slender!! Congratulations… And i’m sure you’ll be back on track in no time… Cheers!
